Because they can. Men generally have more responsibilities and pressure tying them down. Also maybe men are getting good opportunities here but women aren't, for any reason (can be skill issue, can be hiring issue).

That's BS. Violence, criminality, and drug abuse is more open in the Americas. Pop culture is filled with rape songs and jokes. Cardi B regularly makes porno songs which top mainstream charts. And sexism is too much but in corporate a cover has been put over, that's the reason why policies are so extreme in the west. Most sexist Indian would be a noob in the West. Universities bar immigrant students, especially girls, to go out, and at least specify some specific areas to avoid (have confirmed this with 3 different batches). 
  
 India has its problems but saying everything outside is good or better in terms of crime is stupidity, especially when compared to urban India.

Freedom and safety at every stage of life...  
 Want to wear what you want and not be judged, you have an out.  
 You want to go out at night, you might get better safety and freedom. Best part, need not worry about running into someone who knows your family.  
 Unmarried, have the option to do what you want freely.  
 Married and ended up with toxic inlaws, here is an escape.  
 Believe it or not, better respect within the family when you come down to India.  
  
  
 Secondly, For the amount of tax you pay, you get much more.. Better quality of life, Better healthcare, better roads.  
  
  
 Thirdly, the probability of marrying a person you want rather than one that was forced on you. More time and space for love. 
  
  
 Finally, the possibility of settling in a foreign land as a citizen.. More powerful passport, more travel.  
  
 Overall I'd take in a second if I could 🥲

Here are some 
 1 perceived safety, real safety doesn't matter, you can get killed in ohio but not groped, so 
 2 white skin, indians and their love for white skin 
 3 less responsibility  
 4 freedom to explore all facets of life with no judgement or spot on your character, do anything come back to India marry, spotless 
 5 tv internet and srk influence that foreign is good 
 6 better pay and good opportunity  
 7 curiosity to explore other cultures and live on her own

Most of the women i know went abroad are the ones who got married to NRI so even that's a good little thing going on

Albeit not 80% but even form my batch more girls are abroad as compared to boys. 
  
 One thing to keep context of is that on average in my college girls families were at substantially higher networth level as compared to boys families. 
  
 after all actual mid income level families would hesitate to blow 15+ lkh on private university bachelors for a girl child (reality however sad it would seem) 
  
 In my batch atleast 10 boys had family income sub 5LPA, they were on debt, none of girls had this family income, on the other hand few "papa ki pari's" had chauffeur driven E-class for Holi Diwali pickup and drop. 
  
 More money opens up more possibilities and the poorer background more risk averse, and that year no one got ivy scholarship from Amity University, so all masters abroad were loan or family.

It'll be interesting to look at the numbers to understand the split but as I come from a small town I've also noticed many women from the region (married or otherwise) go abroad to the Gulf, Israel and Singapore primarily due to work/financial pressures/lack of local jobs/disruptive political environment, to work in areas around nursing, hospitality, caregiving, housekeeping, etc.  
 Yes, a very different demographic altogether but my heart goes out to them. Many get exploited beyond measure, miss out on their kids' formative years, just to ensure their folks back home get to live a comfortable decent life.

See, if you go abroad...no one will ask you if they can check any rishtas for you...saal me ek hi baar visit kar paate ho...once you get married it becomes difficult to grow in your career for most women because of lack of support...I repeat...most women. 
  
 So one can postpone their marriage plan by going abroad and save up a decent amount for their future. 
  
 This is of course one of the factors. Would love to know others' opinions!
