Paypal fires 2,500 employees

PayPal layoff 7% of its workforce. Around 2000 employees get laid off.Can anyone confirm?

There are news that massive layoffs are coming in Paytm. HR and Business Heads have been given targets - average 30% reduction expected across all teams. #bravenewworld

Heard that Paytm is planning to layoff 10% of entire work force. Across all levels. Heard cases that folks who were hired at market premium less than 30 days ago are now being asked to leave the organisation. And the layoffs will be hidden under the guise of mid year appraisals. #PaytmKaro

How is the current layoff situation in Paypal India. I see many vacancies being posted and was reached out by the HR for a Lead Data Scientist position. Can someone help with the organization culture, growth, opportunities, compensation etc.

A few people who are in advanced stages of the process and/or have offers from slice have been asking me whether it's a good idea to join. My answer has always been consistent and I'm posting this so that people have more clarity. Good folks are leaving in droves which is why they are trying to fill in some roles fast. The company doesn't have a proper CTO, with engineering being managed by two people, one the head of analytics and data science being the 'people mananger' who is highly under-qualified for the job, and the second a toxic and borderline abusive character who is the 'chief architect'. On top of that, there are some AHs from Bizops who'll do everything to blame you if things go wrong and steal credit if things are good, making your day worse rest of the time. The critical Glassdoor reviews are totally true, and present points in an elaborate manner, while the few positive ones are clearly planted with 1-2 lines written for each. Plus the company is suppressing many reviews with the help of community guidelines. Your package might have a generous ESOP component, but it is bloated and the company is looking to raise the next round at a highly diminished valuation. There are more things in life than a few lakhs of extra base pay, for your long term well being. I'm speaking about it openly since I left the org for a better opportunity recently and I don't want people to suffer more.

I'm finding it difficult to understand the situation. A friend, who is a BI developer, was laid off by PayPal, and on the same day, my wife received a call from them for the same role. Next: The hiring manager is pressuring her to complete all interview rounds (4) within 2 days, even making remarks about her inability and calling her unprofessional and showing lack of interest for not completing assignments on weekdays.

According to a report, Amazon will be terminating 10,000 jobs starting this week, which represents less than 1% of its 1.5 million global employees and around 3% of the company's corporate staff.
