I have heard few people do political donations and take money back in cash.. Thoughts on it?

Yes, it's a concept to do tax theft.
Would suggest you to do this only if you are 200% sure that the guy will return your money. World is full of s*it people.
Yep, do this only if you’ve family/friend connections with the said politician/party.
Don’t do that this and next year. These are election years, and Most contributors are under scanner.
