I am looking to return to work after a 5 Years Gap (just before covid). Had to take a break to take care of my in laws, both 90+, (because my husband is an emergency doctor who was at the forefront of covid treatment ) and with kid duties recently. 

previously have worked in multinationals as a consultant in risk domain (non tech)

given the gap, and young kid, i am looking to start entry level / good wlb job and am looking for guidance 

- how should I approach the job search
- anyone gone through similar experience willing to mentor me and help me get back on feet
- any programs specially for my cases
- any guidance appreciated in comments

Need some guidance. I am currently working in a product based MNC with a decent salary for 8 months. I am having 3 years of work experience. Recently I got an interview opportunity from a US based startup company for a SDE 2 remote role with 50% hike. What shall I do? Should I be continue working in the reputed MNC or try to switch to a startup with 50% hike and complete remote opportunity?

Any help and guidance is much appreciated 🙂

With my small experiences in the past, I haven't seen a good Startup with WLB for SDEs (0-3)yoe.

I want to know whether you work in a startup where there's WLB.

I understand that more work means more learning but I do not agree with this every time. There are way more SDEs working in very very small startups who have humongous learning with a pinch of money they are being paid.


For me WLB means enough time to relax and spend time with my loved ones and also less mental stress.

I have observed that the Leads/Managers will give any features no matter how complex they are, need to be built with 0 to no help specially for SDE-1 people.

And later they are blamed and scolded or they're put in PIP and ultimately thrown out.

What is your experience?

Are there any startups where WLB exists or it's just all about money and doesn't matter even if the employee is no more?

How do people climb up/become more important in startups as employees?

If they have the right culture then showing excellency in your role, helping out others in the team, having opinions on decisions taken (not just for the sake of it) should help you get closer to the decision makers. 
  
 Remember that at an early stage startup, everything revolves around the product, and you will be rewarded for aligning with that. 
  
 Speaking from experience, you will be involved in "the action" in a team of 30 people either way

Hey everyone, 

I am a fresher out of college and I have an offer from a good company, with good pay and WLB. I was wondering that after joining the company, should I upskill myself continuously alongside my job (includes DSA, s
System Design etc) or just focus on my job and have a good work life balance? 

There are two different contradictory versions of me right now: one says it's necessary to upskill, the other one says to enjoy live to the fullest.

Confused between the need for upskilling and WLB

I am 2023 passout and I got fulltime around 2023 July, till now I have total 1 year internship experience and 9-10 months full-time.
I decided to switch because of multiple reasons like, sometimes wlb become worst, toxic management and full politics, not feeling like learning anything just making APIs from past few months.
As I am in my early stage of career I got a good switch with approx 120% hike on Base and 60-70% hike on CTC.
Now I am in highly doubt that this switch is a good switch or I should have waited for 2 years and could have switched to directly sde2 with more compensation?

My preference is both good compensation and good wlb.

Please suggest me something?
My goal is to reach 50LPA base till 4 to 5 years of experience.

Hi Everyone,

After Amazon 6 months Intern, Few months back I have joined another MNC, the company culture is quite good, they offer Work from Anywhere but I am not getting good quality of work. Mostly getting bug fixing or some small feature implementation.

I feel like I am not learning anything new. Can you guys suggest me what should I do in this situation as a new grad. Also considering the current market situation.

My "assumption" is they have a better work life balance compared to start-ups (I work in one - CTC being 28lpa - almost 4 YOE). 

Why am I asking? 
Looking at how things are going on at BLR, I'm planning to someday switch to company with work from home and  better work life balance.

CTC:10l
Base:9.7l ,var:30k
I am open to both development and data roles, whichever offers more growth and opportunities in future as both the the packages are similar with minute difference

Which one should I join from the 2 offers?

Hi, I am in my final year of my B.Tech and I just got to know that I won't be getting PPO/Full time offers from two Internships due to no opening in the ML team  for both the Internships. (Market down).

It really feels bad to have wasted my time (1year) over the internship, in the end to get nothing.
