Me being home owner renting to others- let me share my perspective here -
1. Just because you pay rent doesn't mean you can do any shit.
2. Your rent doesn't makes us millionaires.
3. Just because you are back from abroad, dont expect the same quality lifestyle here. You are one of the many thousand people been abroad. Nothing special about you.
4. Your Tech credentials don't mean shit to home owners. You are not special.
5. Rent is high because maintenance is also high. When you expect a repainted house even for minor scratches and dents expect them to be recovered from you.
6. Lastly, home renting is a high risk business, if you don't move out we home owners do not have recourse. So it is up to us on whom we rent. Shove your liberal credentials up yours.
Sorry for the rant, but renters need to be a little more polite if they expect the house owner to be polite.
True true true. Renting is a lose lose business considering depreciation more so in an apartment. No one understands how expensive it is to maintain and how cheap renting is considering all other factors and headaches with Govt.
Before the renter's jump on me on how expensive it is, ask yourself when was the last time you claimed the full HRA you had been entitled to?

All said and done, renting is still a best option and financially prudent! If you invest crores of rupees to build an building or apartment, the ROI is simply 4% in 90% of the cases. Hence land owner are grumpy all the times. Not to mention the harassment they go through via local regulators like BBMP, BWSSB, BESCOM etc. be smart be in rentals and enjoy the hassle free stay while your owner keeps it safe for you from the hassle
