I am planning to join Avalara as a front end developer. Any pros and cons which i should know before joining?

How is Avalara a company to join?

Hey folks, we are adding the Company Reviews community today. So here’s a review of the company that I work at: 

Pros: 
People: Grapevine is a small company with good people. 


Cons: 

Career: 
These people screwed up by paying me less and trying to put me on PIP a few weeks ago. But they soon realized it was a huge mistake 

Perks: 
There’s no free meals and no free lattes at work which is a huge let down. They’ve promised free massages in 2025 but that’s too far away for me to count on 

WLB: 
I’m disappointed by the 5 day work policy as I prefer 3 or 4 days only max. 

Interview 
The interview process is long and I think one of the interviewers was smoking during my interview. But I’m not sure about that one.

Please share honest reviews about Meesho. I have seen extremely mixed reviews on Grapevine and Glassdoor so not sure if I should join there or not.

Role is in their product team

Also, can anyone shed some light on how they have become profitable with 0 commission while other companies which charge commission as well as a platform fees are not

Heard there are layoffs happening in cashfree in sales product and I think tech also.

I don’t know who needs to hear it, but do not blindly trust good glassdoor/ambitionbox/others ratings. In this bad market every company is working well below what their  rating portrays. Now it could be 5/5 in one team but 2/5 in another in general sense. However, now the top to bottom trickle of pressure, politics and such is ensuing. You might think you’re seeing good people in ur next job, reviews are mostly good, work/role looks fine and jump into the company - only to realise that soon good people are being removed or they’re moving.

See if u are not able to get honest feedback from someone in the company or ur new team before u join - be prepared for harsher reality. Like Swiggy was really good 1 year back or more but no longer. So it’s in ur best interest to get the current ground reality before joining somewhere in this economic condition.

PSA: Do not join company based on too good Glassdoor rating

Glassdoor really isn’t a trustworthy platform. Think of it in this way, not many people would post good reviews about anything, be it a product, a service, or a company. Always check the negative reviews, understand whether they sound legit (the legit ones are usually well explained), and speak to ex employees of that organisation/team.  
  
 Also, most good reviews are fake and written by the HR Team. Two of my previous employers used to do it.

Are glassdoor reviews removed by companies when they are on hiring spree?

I get a weekly digest of employee reviews for my company, and very often I've observed that the negative ones are deleted(clicking on the 'read more' section gets me to an error page).

Apart from this, slice is actively putting up fake one-line reviews to save their sinking reputation.

Highly unethical on part of slice. I wonder how Glassdoor is even allowing this.

Can companies delete and manipulate Glassdoor reviews?

Hey Glassdoor! What are you upto?

Our clients make us use it for vendor registration and management, plus invoicing and other stuff.

It's horrible to manage, overly complicated, not localised well enough for Indian processes or legal compliances, yet the big MNCs use it and ask others to sign up as well. 

One of our invoices was stuck for months due to lack of support from client and Ariba. 

Where did this hellspawn come from and why do people use it? Can anyone tell me?

What's your review about ClearTax for SDE role?

A few people who are in advanced stages of the process and/or have offers from slice have been asking me whether it's a good idea to join.

My answer has always been consistent and I'm posting this so that people have more clarity.

Good folks are leaving in droves which is why they are trying to fill in some roles fast.

The company doesn't have a proper CTO, with engineering being managed by two people, one the head of analytics and data science being the 'people mananger' who is highly under-qualified for the job, and the second a toxic and borderline abusive character who is the 'chief architect'.

On top of that, there are some AHs from Bizops who'll do everything to blame you if things go wrong and steal credit if things are good, making your day worse rest of the time.

The critical Glassdoor reviews are totally true, and present points in an elaborate manner, while the few positive ones are clearly planted with 1-2 lines written for each.
Plus the company is suppressing many reviews with the help of community guidelines.

Your package might have a generous ESOP component, but it is bloated and the company is looking to raise the next round at a highly diminished valuation.

There are more things in life than a few lakhs of extra base pay, for your long term well being.

I'm speaking about it openly since I left the org for a better opportunity recently and I don't want people to suffer more.

Your mental health isn't worth a slightly higher base pay in slice

Slice is a known red flag. Stay away at all costs.
