Salaries at FAANG Indian offices

Had a call with my cousin this weekend. Life has been very hectic lately so, I have been laying low for a while now. Anyway, my cousin reached out and he brought up something very interesting. He mentioned how the quality of new engineering grads at FAANG has been trending downwards over the last three or so years. Technical competency aside, there is a weird behavioural shift wherein freshers have adopted job hopping every 2-3 years. He told me that there are zero engineers who stayed longer than 3 years at his org. I mean optimizing for pay is fine. The thing to really balance for is impact in the long run because at one point you would find it hard to scale beyond a Lead/EM role at an org. But the real thing is that the "FAANG" hype has started to die down amongst the 99th percentile of talent. I wonder how long will it take to have a trickle down effect to 80th percentile and so on. Just to validate, I asked a friend for his opinion and he opined that "Bhai, tum FAANG mei naaukar ho ya kisi startup mei, ho toh naukar hi." Translation: "You can work at FAANG, or at a startup but you are still a servant(employee)" Is the FAANG hype really dead?

I have read in multiple places that FAANG hiring abroad is focused more on experience+skill, and less on degree. Infact people with no graduate degrees are also hired, if they have the relevant skills. Was curious to know if this holds up for their Indian counterpart hiring. Does Google/Microsoft/Amazon/Apple in India hire candidates if they have the relevant experience/skills but absolutely no degree ? If they actually do hire, what are the important pointers that the hiring team usually look into for such profiles?

Basically title, globally what would be the share of Indians working in the BigTech's/MNCs' engg teams..? In MSFT I feel like I see atleast one or more Indians in every team I come across... May be it's some bias that I only remember the teams with Indians but still feels like indians form the major part of the global tech work force.. have you felt the same..?

The FAANG and unicorn employee salaries for even 2-7 YOE engineers is quite insane compared to the average Indian employee pay in other sectors of the economy. The average SDE2 at these companies makes 50+ lakhs per year in compensation (not “CTC” but real money) The average SDE3 makes 80+ lakhs which is frankly insane. What are you guys doing with all that money?

Offer : E4 175k pounds Current: L4 56 Lakhs YoE: 1 year 7 months Here's what I have considered: - Living in London is going to be costly, on an avg I'll be saving 1.2x of India. - Meta London created a bad reputation for itself when last year it laid off people from India just 2 days after joining - it's not worth it going from L4 to E4, I probably should switch only when getting a higher level or a big big pay bump (this is probably not a big pay bump considering the cost of living) - I am not very good at making friends, and I have quite some friends here now... I don't just want to leave everything and be alone in a new city so far away from home. - the only pro point I see is that.. it is London. Do you think I should reconsider my decision?

Need to compare my salary Fixed: 23LPA Experience: 5 years 4 months Backend Tech

I have been trying to get in to the G for a long time now. I even have applied abroad G but here I don't seem to get even a little response. It's not like they have ghosted my application. I felt that there is something fishy going on in G which no one is talking about. I also looked at the recent free annual meetings and eventhough I am fully qualified for such, the response is not as expected and I can literally see another guy who belongs to certain BLANK is attending the meeting. What's really happening inside G in India?? Any inside info will help me not to look for offers from that company.

Contemplating between an offer at Google vs a Series A startup, in India, with similar pay. I'm curious to know if Google as a name on the resume (or for future prospects) is still as big as it was maybe 5-8 years ago? Or is India just a low cost employee centre for them and it'll always be down-the-stream work, at the whims of middle/senior managers?
