I want to know the right time to switch?
How much time should someone with 5-7 yrs of experience in product / business strategy spend in one company (ideally)?

Context: 
I am in a product strategy role where I am working with the founders and leadership team.
I have done engineering and MBA from tier 1 colleges.
I have 2 yrs of pre MBA and 4.2 yrs of post MBA experience. My Annual compensation is the range of 35-40 lpa.
Post MBA, I have done a startup for 1.5 yrs, worked in 2 unicorns for 1 yr each.
In a serious B funded startup right now with 9 months of experience.

Hi, 

So I've working in a pre-seed stage startup for 1 year 3+months, Company is still in process to get it's next round of funding, hence my increment is still in half-backed stage. 
The base was increased from 20L to 30L(promised), Which was my least expected number to stay in the team. 
To this I retaliated with my background, skills and lesser pay for the last year. but CTO has told me that this is max (or little more) I can get in the current market. 

Since the last 3-4 years trend being 2+ years experienced, IIT, GSOC and with leading the backend team, even in this recession market I believe to be paid near or fully 40L base + ESOPs. 

Help me if you're active in the job market as seekers/recruiters, if the CTO is right here.

Just wanted to see general sentiment. Coming from a tier 1 clg in du most roles offer between 50-80k base, not including variable. Also do mention the field you've gotten into, thanks.

Overview: 
Everyone around me, be it old school friends to the people in the bangalore startup ecosystem are planning to or already in the process of doing an MBA. 

What is happening:
Most of the people I know, either are going for a tier 1 MBA in India or colleges like “Carnegie Mellon”/ “INSEAD”/ “NUS” these are really good places. 

Why am I concerned:
I dont have great acade, GEM candidate so I have decided to not pursue CAT at all, and MBA outside India is too expensive. 

I feel like my job and career are going fine with 4 years of professional experience I am making 25LPA in marketing. I am not keen on doing an MBA but I dont want to regret later.

I consider myself to be fairly smart but what happens when I am competing with people who have great brand names on their resume and are actually smart. 

People on GV with more experience, have you gone through this struggle? 


Sidenote: I also have friends who have cleared IIM ABC, ISB and not gone, because they just wanted the admit letter. Which is brave lol!

How can one benchmark growth? What should the average IITian (not the outliers ) be making post 9 years of work ex, no MBA or Masters' generalist tracks non tech? Is a 45 fixed + 5 variable good or below par? How much would this be more with an ISB MBA? And  with a M7 MBA but back to do a job in India?

Overall 12 years experience(10 years post MBA from top 15 b-schools). Is 40LPA low, because I kind of feel so. Have ESOPs worth 50 lakhs. Have only around 4 years of experience into growth marketing. Rest was majorly in Consulting and FMCG sales.

Old IIT, random branch, 8 years out of college, 45LPA fixed + 10 variable + 20L RSUs in a generalist project lead role with a consulting services firm. Confused. Had been wanting to startup at some point hence didn't go for a M7 MBA.  Not sure about starting up now. ISB, Insead and maybe a long shot at an M7 also on the table. Can stay at this firm and be partner equivalent in 4-5 years but it ain't MBB so max I see myself is at 80L fixed in 5 years and it plateauing.
How'd you go about thinking this through?
