Sense check - Meesho
Just got a call from HR at Meesho for a job opportunity. While I'm actively looking out I haven't heard the best about the company. Any current, ex folks who can tell what's the culture and current business health like? How's the WLB? And job security?
I got the call for the superstore biz.
Have worked there for last 3+ years. Best company in the startup ecosystem to work right now. Currently chasing targets to focus on IPO, so work is more. You will love the talent density and working with super smart folks there.
Wow. That's a solid sell. Does the company pay well? And by well I mean I've 7 years of experience with over 4 years in biz strategy, category building and growth. What can I expect?
Also - what was your role? On the business side or tech?
I was in tech. It was super solid. (Approx 50+ for 5-6 years of experience) They routinely benchmark themselves against the peers for the pay. (You have to pay good to attract talent). They want to be at 90/95th percentile in the industry for pay-grade. A lot of folks I know are not leaving Meesho because it pays too well. For Biz roles, I am not sure honestly about the exact numbers. Would suggest talking to recruiter directly about this.
Which role exactly ? The work is very good. Don’t listen to people who have just ‘heard’ about the company especially students :P
Meesho will soon hit profitability because of ruthless prioritisation. Good money good work but get ready for 10-12 hrs
It's a user growth role for the Superstore biz. Hoping to get some clarity from the hiring manager what's the gameplan here since superstore shut down 90% of its operations last year. Anyone has any idea on this front?
Yeah they merged themselves to the app and hence the layoffs. I think they are doing very good now. You can think of joining
From business POV, Meesho is a dead man walking... Having fun on other people's money till it lasts.
1 word - Avoid, if you have options.
Personally had a good experience. Culture is of high expectation and high performance.
Business is doing good on profitability goals vs other large tech startups.
Don’t expect any layoff/restructuring soon except some performance base churn.
Come if you want good work, and don’t come if you are looking for wlb.
