Social Drinking ?
I never drink alcohol. So, anytime I go out with my corporate friends. I always listen this argument that you should atleast try once. It’s just for experience. I want to know that am I really missing anything? I want to remain pure as long as I can (however I have took some sip due to peer pressure).

It is like a pleasure or achievement to convince someone to have their first drink, for some people.
No, you are not missing. I started drinking in college but left after that. There is not much change in my life. Just I have to lie that I don't drink.

Good. Don't rink just because of peer pressure.

You should ask them to "try once" this thing called "minding your own business". Tell them it really helps and alleviates a lot of mental stress.

Lmao absolute pussies in the replies!!
Go ahead and have some drinks. Drink it with a cold drink if the taste is an issue for you, which usually is in the beginning.
Feel drunk, have 3-4 drinks with your trusted friend(s).
You are definitely missing out on something.
Anyone who calls other pussies for maintaining healthier life choice is themselves puss.. 😏

Yes as we all know that all the non-alcoholics in our society are super healthy individuals.

There is nothing to be proud or ashamed about drinking alcohol. Its just a beverage and people been drinking it for 1000s of years. If you like it then do but in limited quantities.
I personally don't like the taste of most drinks so I always try different cocktails but most of them are shit. Doesn't matter what morons say that real men drink their oiss tasting shit beer.
It also helps get the buzz going, again personally not a fan because I always like to be at peak motor control of my neurons but on certain occasions it feels nice to get that drunk feeling going on.

There are zero advantages of alcohol. And there are clear harms if you start drinking and you are prone to addiction including life threatening conditions.
I look at choosing to start drinking as a stupid choice and people who force you to 'try once' as people trying to somehow validate their stupid choice.
It is just peer pressure. Take it as an achievement that you have been able to deflect the peer pressure. And when they say “try at least once”, you can always say- “I have already tried once. Now I can’t keep repeating that “once” for everyone”. So no, you are not missing anything. Getting drunk to get a high, is nothing to boast about, no experience to cherish for. And any amount of alcohol is injurious for health, there is no safe amount howsoever moderate. So it is just wise to stay off it.

One you start drinking, you will find it hard later to be social without thinking about drinks.
All social activities for no reason ends into drinking mode if you have made it the norm.
Drinking socially or not becomes racist after a point.
However, real deal is to be social with other ways of enjoying
Do not feel pressure to cheers and suggest more ways to socialise which doesn't involve eating or drinking.

You have taken a sip and you still stay pure?
Sweet virgin Mary moment lol
Here's my take on this. I liked the comment that someone made above, that there's nothing to be proud or ashamed about.
I completed my entire engineering and then MBA just having chakna and soft drinks while my friends had a ball. Never felt bad about it actually. It was good fun.
Then being in a job, never tried for the first 5-6 years. But then I started having beer and wine.
And i must admit some of my best trips and fun conversations happened because of having drinks with friends.
Now I've come to a point where a chilled beer on Friday evening helps me relax well.
So I've lived on both sides. It's good on both sides actually. I felt sorry about your thoughts that you want to be pure and all. I don't think having a drink or not, makes you pure or not. Life has much more to it, really!

would you drink it if they say that your promotion depends on it ?

Is promotion in such a company worth it? People getting promoted because they are ready to drink instead of their skills?

@Drakshi404 now replace drinking with "diversity" 😌

Politely say no with words and angrily say no with Eyes while pathetically(to their habit of drinking) say no with facial expressions.
I have never drank. Many people tried. College, different companies, scho friends. Many reacted like "you're in Bangalore and you don't drink. Whaaaaat?"
For some reason I never felt even close to being convinced even if they were persuading a lot.
I guess the secret is just not giving a damn about their wishes. You do you.
No you aren’t missing anything, like someone pointed out, smh people get pleasure to get others start drinking. I used to do this. Before people start noticing that I am not drinking, I would pick a glass of drink, usually whisky and hold it entire evening. So nobody cares about me anymore and I can enjoy the evening as I wish to. Once everyone is high enough, I’d keep the glass aside. Someone or other would gladly pick it up in the end.

No, you don't really miss anything, tbh, tastes terrific, I did for peer pressure initially at college, later I just say "Guys, I ain't touching that shid"
I never even felt anything, cuz of high tolerance, I also workout , so that mostly made up the reason for avoiding it.
Just be a bit alpha and reject it, or get better friends
Not missing out on anything, even if you try chances are simply won't like even the finest of single malts,
I sometimes redbull or mocktail to blend in after people know you for a certain time they'll stop insisting.
If you personally want to try and finding something easy on throat, I'd recommend Bailey's Irish cream or lighter beers like corona / hoegarden, avoid cocktails at most places they use the cheapest (worst) kind of liquor for mixing.
