Software dev or data science

I am unemployed since 1 year, did not do anything for 1 year coz of some reason , earlier I was in QA but now want to get into development. Already 1 year is gone which is big enough career gap and I am panicking. Now I am not able to understand whether I should join any software development course like Crio or shall I join any Data science/ML course. Whatever I have to do it will take 6 months more , but I guess I have no choice. I know basic nodejs and all but no knowledge of Data science however DS will be more in demand in future so that is why I am thinking about that. But I am not sure which one shall I take ?

I just wanted to know from folks that can anyone learn Data science in 6 months good enough to get a job or shall I opt for software development course. Also , if I shall go for data science course , please suggest me some good training institute for it.

Being a DS myself, If i have to go back 7 years and choose a field, I'll choose full stack engineering. Period. Don't ask why? You'll get the answers once you go in corporate

Creating model is like 10% of work.
Reasearch is difficult and frustrating DS is not yet matured in India yet DS still play supporting role in Max companies. In case of recession it's one of the dept that companies let go off. Very difficult and complex once you deep dive into DS. Half of your models will not be ever deployed in production.

I'd rather prefer data engineering over ds

Fullstack is a safe bet and high paying. Every company needs backed algo, app and website, not everyone needs to create models out of data

Software dev. Learn the DS concepts. Data science in India is a sham at this point.

Why is it a sham????

Be a developer, switch to DS related roles becomes easier with tech experience. Learn DS, on the side while being a developer

I am ready 27... Even if it takes 2 years switching to ds then, I don't think companies would then entertain hikes given that they will get freshers to do same thing at low salary....

DS and ML is not mature in India. If you have a development experience and know your way around cloud, devops/mlops people will entertain you. Take up an online good ms program on the side
