I believe men are becoming increasingly conscious of their appearance and it’s quite evident on GV as well. Working out, getting in shape is only L1 problem, personal care goes beyond working out. But there are two problems when men want to start personal care (skin,hair, body)

1. Lack of knowledge. Where to start? How to start? Which products to use? What is Vitamin C? WTF is a hyaluronic acid?

2. If #1 is sorted, then the second problem is laziness. I spoke to 220+ men and 70% spend only spend or want to spend 10-20 mins/day on personal care.

I plan to solve this by,

1. Content. Becoming an education first brand. Best example is Ditto Insurance, they’re more of an advisor than a Insurance selling company. A good example in D2C space is The Whole Truth. I want to educate men about personal care. I want to build a brand that men turn to when starting their personal care journey. 

2. Innovative products & Functionality. Men would benefit a lot from serum but they don’t use it primarily because the hassle of using a dropper, rubbing it on your face is too much. We’ll innovate how these products are made. Easy to use. 


I’ve dropped a full-time job offer to build this right out of college. Borrowed 10L from F&F. Registered the company and on-boarded a few kickass people to create content. Hope all goes well. I’ll keep sharing the progress here :)

Why society judge so much when boys grow their hairs

Most of us on Grapevine, working in corporate sector might make decent chunk of money if we keep grinding for a decade or two but very few of us would have the social capital (or as they say “networking” in our corporate jargon).
Increasingly realising that the society respects the business owners or govt officers more than any senior leader in an IT firm. There is no social recognition for corporate folks. It might not be relevant for young folks as they still have some residual social recognition of the family for now, but what would happen after a decade or two. Most of the corporate “friends” are no longer in touch except for very rare ones. How does one build a social circle after 10-20 yrs in corporate? Would like to hear from folks above 40 yrs if they’ve had similar thoughts and how are they managing?
Also, What are some ways one can start building social circle overtime while doing a corporate job?

PS: I am referring social capital as having a certain level of stature in society alongwith deep connections with some people living around you who can help you in need or can expect something from you. This is different from LinkedIn networking where primary expectation is referrals.

Service Class has no social capital

My father is an officer in a PSU. Not sure what "respect" you are talking about because from what I've seen, PSU workers have a social capital only in their colony/settlement. Apart from that it doesn't really matter for outsiders.  
 Business owners are respected only if he/she is really really successful. Otherwise how often we see someone respecting a normal shop owner?? 
  
 To build your own social capital, participate in tech talks/workshops. Spend time mentoring folks. Participate in society functions/apartments as others have mentioned.

Hi fellow viners. 
This post might sound funny, but some real advice would be quite appreciated.
Lately of all things I'm insecure about, me not having a beard at this age of 28 is bothering me the most. 
My peers say I look like a college kid. In fact once at my office party at a bar, one guy from the staff specifically asked for my Aadhar in front of my manager and team(They all were laughing like crazy 😑)
Similar incidents happen to me every once in a while.
Putting this post out to seek suggestions on practical ways to have a beard at this age and how to go about this situation holistically.

Looking like a college kid. No beard at the age of 28.

I turned 25 a few months back. I am balding from my college days. During the lockdown, it was somehow accelerated and lost most of the hair line. Now i look like a person with male pattern baldness who has lost his almost all hair. 

Baldness is hereditary in my family. My head almost looks like my fathers head, who is also bald. 

I always knew that I would go bald someday but never imagined that it would be at 25. 

Though i don't hide it by anything. I go in public openly and try to be as confident as much as possible, but sometimes I feel very sad as people generally stare and don't usually talk normally. Some relatives even tell it on my face that who is going to marry you. This generally brings down my confidence.

Career wise, i am doing pretty good. Earning good money. 

Some people say go for hair transplant, but to be very honest, I don't feel it is worth spending money on the hair, which at the end going to vanish only due to hereditary reasons.

I have almost accepted the way I look now, but  become very anxious when I think about getting married. I'm not sure if somebody is going to accept me the way I look. 

What would be your advice for me? How should I deal with it so that it does bother me again and again.

I am a woman, and I am ashamed that society made my mind think facial hair as abnormality.
Class 10 to 12 are a hormone ruckus, that's where problems start, probably for men too

How are you solving the hair loss problem?
any remedies, special hair oil etc would be useful.

Is your corporate job leading to hair loss making you bald?

I am facing hairfall in pune, I know it is common in pune but to prevent it or to slow it down I started treatment from a dermatologist. I am using some hair grow serum and couple of other medicines for different minerals and vitamins.
I want to ask if I should use derma roller or not?
Have anyone used it? Is it effective if I use derma roller with minoxidil? 

Please help me before I get bald!!

By far the most common question I've seen from guys online is how to get matches. 

0. Get good pictures of yourself clicked if you don't have any. Strictly no selfies. Also try and avoid profiles with too many selfies (it usually means they don't have enough friends in life which is a red flag).

1. Pictures shouldn't be old/outdated. Always upload recent ones. One or two should be of you doing something interesting (with friends, some hobby/activity) and your face and body should be visible clearly. Have at least 1-2 pics where full body is visible.

2. Do not have more than 3 sentences in your bio. Don't try too hard to describe yourself in a profile (don't fill up that profile to 100% details filled). Leave some space for mystery. 

3. OBSESS over bio introduction. It should be crisp, witty and error free. It will make or break your profile.

4. Gym pics and car pics are a hit and miss. Some will go for it, others won't. Different personalities will go for different things. Upto you which kind you want to attract. 

5. If you have pics with female friends, can add one. Women trust other women to select men. If you already have healthy female friendships, that's a green flag for them. Do take permission from your friends though. And it should be a group pic, not one where it's just you and one woman. They would assume that's your gf/ex, which is red flag for many.

Just do this much and it will definitely boost your matches.
