The usual, but also sad
Any ways to end something like this? Atleast for our kids in the future, kinda worried about, where things are heading tbh.
Why do people feel that they are entitled to IIM calls just on the basis of their percentile? Did you not know the admission process before applying? Did you not know how many seats you are eligible for? Do you not know the concept of supernumerary reservation? The person who had 99.94 has poor X/XII/UG, which made them ineligible for admissions to A. B also has a very strict rule. I know 100%ilers who didn't get calls because of poor past records. If you are a GEM, CAT is literally made for you. At least 1/3rd section is what you learnt in your 10th standard or below. Getting 99%+ doesn't prove you are the "brightest youth" in India. People who are lawyers / doctors / fashion designers / sports professionals can't always get 90%ile in CAT. But there's so much value that they add (to the learning environment) , which the institutes recognize and give higher weightage to. Phoren MBA admits me jo log Africa me jake wells khodte hai, Unko all M7 admits aate hai. Each university has their own set of affirmative action programmes, and it's not hidden. When you apply, you know it. What's the crib afterwards. And I have seen that Yeh zyada jalti un logo ki hai jo ki kabhi khud admission nhi le pate even on 100% weightage to CAT. Jaise ki shrman 99.77%, who would have a mid 600ish rank, which is higher than intake of IIMA (400 odd batch strength according to news sources).
Reddit par ek post tha 9/9/8 99.81 Bhai batao kyu call nahi aaya?
Woh admissions office se phone karke puchega, usko pata chal jayega. Why do you want to know? Teri aa rhi hai kya CAT me 99.81?
Not surprisingly the most upvoted comment on this thread is a long baloney on how "general" guys are essentially "bitc*#es" for crying about reejudbation.
A friend who can't spell month names just got qualified as HS teacher. I once remember a convo where he borderline grieved about open seats being about 28% when general pop is just 20% in the state. That being said I don't care much because there was a time when graduates from this Institutes used to go on to become RBI governors, business leaders, UN executives. Today a few of them make excel for seed funded CEOs. Soon we will hear IIM chaiwala and chaapwala
BTW the OP of this tweet further posted that the two guys were IIT Bombay graduates.

Baloney hai bhai, so you should take the argument one at a time and prick holes. IIT Bombay graduating GPAs range from 5.0 to 10.0/10. IIT Bombay general category cutoffs (for JEE) range from 1-8000. Just because someone is a graduate from IIT Bombay, you can't assume that they had remarkable academics or even remarkable JEE rank. I had mentioned in two comments below the baloney comment that in IIMA, only 75 seats are available for people from IITs/NITs/BITS. Also, you should ask your "friend", what they had to face to be able to reach a position to qualify as High school teacher. Also, where do you think the best brains in the country are, if not at these institutions. If you chain of logic is to be followed, people who excelled enough to be GEMs at IIMA, are creme-de-la-creme. Between 1980s and 2020s, probably #seats (for the GEMs of our society) have remained the same
Sorry, bro. Had a nice dinner so no time for your word salad. As a GC man I know what I and my son are losing due to reservations and I don't need to prove to you. I will leave you to it because unlike you I have to work harder to achieve the same outcome. Have to work even more to ensure my son doesn't have to.
No way to end this. No political party is going to risk it. Only way is to get rich enough so that u can afford to send your kids outside or permanently move to a better country.
I got 99.36 and did not get a call from A/B/C. I guess reason was my poor undergrad (7 pointer). I got into K but I declined it thinking I will score more next time and get one of the top 3. Sadly got 99.1 next time and moved on with my tech job. Fortunately/Unfortunately tech salaries rose and now its useless to even apply for MBA as even after passing from one of the top 3 institutes I am unsure if I will get the same salary, let alone better.
Bhai 74% wale ki galti nhi h. Tumhari galti h ki tum ek general category ladke paida ho gye. Nhi hona chaiye tha. Wahin kat gya tumhara. Ab expectation tone down kar lo, ye to hota hi rahega.
