[Thread] Was banning TikTok a masterstroke by us?
It was either a GOATed intellectual move by the government or a fluke that has paid us well. PUBG and TikTok were two cancerous apps that was f'ing with the cultural zeitgeist imo.

Kya GOAT, insta and CoDM has taken the user base and the zeitgeist goes on
@Dihaadi CoDM does not have the same mass appeal as PUBG and Insta reels content is marginally better than reels cringefest. But yes you are sorta right.

Yes, a **Bloomberg** article will tell you why they really banned it!
Spoiler, it has nothing to do with "national security", or China influencing US politics. They want to control the media narrative to keep the populace compliant to US foreign policy (e.g. bombing those folks in a faraway land), and TikTok was standing in the way of that, showing footage the state department does not want the mostly young audience to see.
India already banned ticktok and pubg 2-3 years back. App was not following security regulation.

US' plans to ban Tiktok. If they actually pull this off, this is a BIG loss for Bytedance and a BIG win for Instagram.
When TikTok mobilized its users to lobby Congress, it backfired spectacularly.
