1 Yr later, found a girl parents found, got pregnant before first anniversary. Over 3 years, their marriage has seen divorce, domestic violence and 5 star hotel celebrations (oscillated to extremes of good and bad)

I'm seeing another such case.

2 months later, he has found someone to marry through arrange marriage route

At the age of 32 I want to switch career from electrical background to IT. After some research I want to go to SAP basis, or any other ERP. At this age is it right thing to do?? Plz suggest. 
I have learnt SAP basis from online and is somewhat good at it. But didn't work professional in SAP. Used to practice from rented servers and dumps.

In electrical am earning 40,000 which I think is low and I can't see better future pay than this here. Although the job is stable, pay is very less in this field. Please give suggestions

In relationship with her for almost 4 years. Although relationship is kind of toxic but there're lot of emotional memories. She's bit of abusive when in anger and on the other hand I also made lot of mistake by giving hope & all. It becomes kind of hard for me to handle her anger. Now I trying to fix things up for our future. I tried connecting with lot of my friends & psychologist, but didn't get balanced solution. By balanced solution, I mean both of us should not suffer unfairly and live life peacefully. Both of us come from lower middle class family and both approaching 30. she's not working.

1. I have few responsibility for my family as well. So, one of my friend suggested "to do breakup and not continue because of these family responsibility. If I go with her, then in the end I have to sacrifice one thing in my life (sacrifice means not good future), either my family, her or my career. and not being true to my family responsibilities in future will give me more guilt than breaking up with her. and they told It'll become hard for me with family guilt. In chess, sometime you have to sacrifice queen to win. Also, they asked me to read geeta that duty comes first than anything else. and family didn't make any wrong and deserve the best in future."

2. My judgement around this is kind of messedup right now. Although i understand the logic part of it and completely agree with this. but Emotional part of this is kind of making me feel guilt. that i did very wrong to someone. and Even i understand that it'll be hard/impossible for me carry all these burden in future, still I think lets go with her just that I dont want her to suffer things.

3. Above 2 solution feels very biased to me. In both solution, one of us have to suffer badly. Posting here to get your solution. I know both type of people exist here. Someone will feel more for her and other will prefer family.

I just found out today I’ve been cheated on by my long term girlfriend who I lived with. Turns out she’s been cheating for a few months but she’s only just told me now because she’s fallen out of love for me and she’s fallen in love with him, so she’s leaving me for him.

She says I neglected giving her the attention she needed because I was so focused on work I forgot to do the nice things for her like bring her flowers, or take her out for dinner or to just show her how much I loved her.

Even though I’m so heart broken and haven’t stopped crying, I do forgive her because it’s true my work hours were bad and because we lived together I kept thinking in my head “it’s fine, ill make it up to her next time”. 

Plus, I was planning to quit my job once bonus comes at the end of this year to find a more chilled job so I could spend more time with her, I truly am ready to leave my job and that was my plan so I was just holding out until then. But now I won’t have the chance because she said its too late she has already lost interest in me and loves him.

But this guy is a software engineer at a FAANG company earning 60-70L a year whilst only having to work 9-5 so he’s richer and has more free time to give her attention. Actually she said he only works around 3 hours per day, he does around 1 hour in morning then 2 hours after lunch and for the rest of the day he’s free to spend time with her, and his company doesn’t notice or mind. So this guy earns almost 3x my compensation for only 3 hours a day meanwhile I’m working 12 hours a day 

She would sneak out whilst I was at work to go on dates with him or round his house and then she would come back to my home in my bed in time for when I arrived from work so I wouldn’t notice. 

Now I feel really broken, I’m in no mental state to be working I can’t think about anything else I have deadline for work today and I’m just sat here crying writing this post. I know men are meant to be strong and hold our emotions together but I really am sad.

I want to ask for 3 days sick leave at work but I don’t know if this normal and acceptable to do? Given most sick leave would be for grievances like the death of a loved one etc.

or am I being a cry baby and I should man up and continue to work?

My mother called me yesterday and tells me she got scammed for about 10 lakhs and needs money by Monday. She has 4 lakhs and I will have to cover the rest. Turns out she let a friend take a loan in her name and this friend gave fake jewellery as collateral. The friend took loans under her husband’s name and my mom’s name, she divorced the dude and escaped. The bank called my mom and has asked her to pay, now they’re filing a case against my mom for fraud.

I’ve spent my weekend talking to advocates and friends, and looks like the only way to get out of it unscathed is to cut a deal with the bank saying we’ll pay the money back and they don’t press charges in return. Contesting the bank is going to take time, money and the risk of my mom losing her job.

As an older daughter who grew up in a broken family, I’ve spent my childhood and adulthood protecting my mother and sibling. I finally landed a well paying job 2 years ago and now the responsibility extended to providing for my younger sister and my mother financially which I’m more than happy to do. I’ve worked hard the past few months to save what I have right now beyond what I give my family, use to sustain myself and finally felt happy about the position I’m in.

Now I’m heartbroken. I’m going to be emptying almost 70% of what I have so far for this for paying the bank and the lawyer. Especially for something that’s not even my mistake and something that could have been easily avoided. I’m not in a place to direct my anger at her, I know it’s a hard time for her as well. 


6 to 7 lakhs might sound like a small amount to some but I don’t have the privilege to throw money like that. I don’t have fuck you money. I don’t take money from friends. I’m 25 and literally just started my life 2 years ago after working for peanuts. 

What’s even the point of working hard, leading an honest life if this is how it works? It’s just truly unfair and I don’t know how to deal with it.

 My father too was frauded by a builder whom we had entrusted building flats on our plot of land. Fcker took booking amount from multiple people and left construction, claimants now coming after us saying its our responsibility to refund even though my father didnot recive any amount. 
 I had to take 18 lakhs loan for my father to complete construction and am all the time calling advocates in assesing risk from claimants who come barging at our home and building site with threats of filling FIR. 
 Every month my one third salary goes in Loan amount, had got a ideal wlb good paying job 2 years back after battling unemployment and low pay for many years. 
 Had planned to take wife and kids on vactaions for making up for lost time but now struggling to fulfill basic needs for family, forgot about vacations. 
 Have taken risk and moonlighting but it becomes hell on days when there is clash between jobs and sometimes lash out on my kids and wife and parents and then get hit by double guilt of not being strong enough.  
 Dont have any backing to face cheat builder who has backing of police and politicians, claimants coming after us as they have recognized us as soft target. 
 Preparing for 10 lakhs more expenses in multi year litigation trying to probe my fathers innocence. 
 Fcking jealous relatives enjoying all this from distance. 
 Fck this world.

One of my friends invited his friend who is not my friend, and though I didn't refuse, it later stung me when that person landed a better package. What hurt even more was that he didn't throw a party at all. Now, after a year, I've received a job offer that's a thousand times better than the package he got. I want to post a WhatsApp status flaunting my success only to him, but I'm struggling to come up with a caption that indirectly stings him. Can you help me out?

I currently work in a project that is driven by CEO and he is very intimidating. I work my ass off to make sure he gets what expects but today he was especially aggressive during the call. After the call I asked him to wait up for two mins and started telling him that I am getting intimidated by him. Although he was nice to me when I confronted him, now I am feeling embarrassed because I broke down a little when I spoke. Tears started flowing and I am feeling like a weak person. Just fyi I am an adult male.

In Feb, me and my partner along with another acquaintance(From 2 years) opened a cafe in Bangalore. Everything was going good except for hiccups in-between, the usual conflicts and misunderstanding. Me and my partner really worked hard for the cafe, put our heart and soul into it. The GST is in the name of third person since he is already running a business on it and told us we can use it. We started inviting people to the cafe for tasting sessions and feedback. We were about to official launch until one day.. 

Since customers were coming in, we started charging minimal amount. The third person's acquaintances came in and I asked if they had paid infront of his other friends who wouldn't even have heard what I asked. He in return asked if my friend had paid for the coffee, I said yes. I am not sure what triggered his so much or if it was all planned from starting, the very next day afternoon he brought around 10-15 localities who were drunk. We three girls were sitting in the cafe and my partner and other guy friends were not present at the moment. Once my partner came in, He took out a file and said I went to the lawyer, police and minister and this is my cafe here after. You guys can go out. The file consisted of rental agreement which is in all of our names, food license, gst and all other bills in his name. He hit both of us there itself and started shouting.

Then after a big scene happened, the police came but that guy took police to the side and spoke something, not sure what that was about. He gave two cheques to both of us on the day itself. He just bought time and cleared one cheque, the other cheque he himself told the bank to bounce it. Not sure what he is plotting.

I just wanted to leave everything whatever happened and continue with life. But the emotional turmoil, the hitting, the post incident scenes everything is in my eyes still. And above all, the amount of work and passion we put into our project, everything was chosen and done by both of us.

It's been some time since I received some kindness from people. The last time I heard some kind words or got a kind gesture was very long ago. Today, whoever I interact with behaves absurdly without any compassion. The shopkeepers won't talk politely if asked about a product, the house owners will talk rudely and make random rules any day, people won't smile on the metro, in restaurants they will shout on the waiters and the list goes on. I am not even bringing up autowalas and taxiwalas. What does it take to show some compassion? How much does it take to compromise a little bit so that other person feels good about this world? Why does everyone want to just rip other off? 😞

What happened to the world?

I have shifted from banglore to my hometown in rajasthan and its lovely here. Greet everyone with ram ram /radhe radhe and people smile back greet back, its superb. I was missing this element in banglore

I'm typing this out as a way of collecting my thoughts and feeling a bit normal to take myself through the day. Context: I have been working with a small b2b IT firm for the last 1.5 years, and resigned yesterday. This was my first job straight out of MBA and it has sucked the soul out of me to say the least. The notice period is 3 months and I am really unsure how will I survive it considering that I'm already completely drained. 

I do not want to list out the reasons of how this place has been toxic for me because I also carry a lot of self doubt if it was really the toxicity of the place or my own incapability to handle the work. I do not have any offer in hand, and haven't started a job search either. Just wanted to put this out there to see if people here in the community have been in a similar situation in their professional lives and how did they figure out the uncertainty, was it a good decision for them in retrospect and if they have any tips for me to deal with this better, with less anxiety.

Panic after resigning from a toxic workplace

First of all congratulations! You're out of that hell hole how and you can now recover and realign.  
  
 Second - You'll be okay. Anxiety tricks you into thinking the worst possible thing will happen to you. It convinces you that it's the only possible outcome.  
  
 I'd say the first couple of days - just be. Do what you want. Decide that in the first week you'll consciously do nothing job related - the one you left and the one you should find. You'll need this time to feel like yourself again. Do things that bring you calm and joy. Nothing to big, could be as simple as a walk or making your favourite kind of sandwich.  
  
 After a week - do the following things : 
 1. List out every single thing you did at this job  
 2. Use this info to update the CV - it'll take multiple iterations. Send it to people for feedback, ask them to be candid, use chatgpt whenever relevant  
 3. Make a list of companies you want to work with  
 4. Visit their portal and other job portals 
 5. Find relevant jobs  
 6. Find people in your circle who can refer you. If you do not know any reach out to people on LinkedIn. Send request to multiple people to have a big top of the funnel  
 7. Simultaneously write down questions that you might be asked in an interview 
 8. Meet people you like  
 9. Do some kind of work out 
 10. Apply to jobs with referal 
 11. Repeat  
  
 Remember - you'll be okay.
