Tipping culture in SF
A few weeks back I went to MTV & during the team outing, I offered to pay the 670$ bill. I was aware of the tipping culture I offered a 30$ bill but the waitress shouted that this was too low at least pay 20% of the invoice.
Thank god; in APAC we donβt have this tipping culture. πππ©
Do you tip when you travel to the US? If yes, then how much?
20% is just too much tbvf! donβt know whatβs the norm, never been to sf
Yes it's low and depending on the quality of service, you give 15-20% of the bill amount so atleast 70$ minimum or higher for really exceptional service. Again it's your discretion especially if you never plan to visit the restaurant in your lifetime. But what I see is that it's become brazen to ask for more even above 20% making it hard for both parties.
Never understood this compulsory tipping. Tip inherently means something that is beyond your agreed pay as per customerβs discretion if they liked your service. If youβre forcing them then itβs no longer that. Might as well include the tip in the price of items.
I feel in India we tip too less It should be 10%
I am myself guilty of not doing this
