Unsure about career progression

To give a brief background, I did BTech in biotechnology from a tier 2 college which I soon realised didn’t have any interest in. Currently 24YOE

I took up a job as an operations analyst at a series b funded startup. Worked on internal tools + gsheets + SQL(basic select queries). Became expert of this internal tool but realised the skill and knowledge isn’t transferable.

Got promoted to project analyst within a year and started handling internal teams + client comm. gave 1 year to this position. Currently at 8LPA

Now I am looking to switch and unable to understand which way should I go. Have interest in business strategy + data related work.

Good progress till now. At the end direction depends on your strengths, interests and opportunities. So list down all possible options you can take.
One option is to keep moving in business analytics/intelligence domain and then shift to product management later. Wish you well

I have serious interest in deep diving into business strategies and how they work.
Basis on that only I have progressed till now.
But post this, to achieve higher pay scale, all companies ask for relevant work experience + hard skills which I lack.

Operations (positions like data analyst) can be a good area for you to progress, especially when you are equipped with SQL.

Python/R is an additional requirement for data analyst position. I have started working on it though.
Thanks for the advice.
Is data analyst a good avenue for much higher pay scales later on?

Some big corporates call these roles by the name of “Business Intelligence Engineer”. It’s a good scope but still remains as a support function as it can’t individually drive a business. My suggestion would be keep building skills in the same vertical and look for some functional ownership later on.
