One of the companies I worked with previously didn't  pay me for 2 months.
Obviously, I have sent a notice and intent to take legal action.

They have been getting paid media attention for a bit now. Even though I didn't intent to post anything publicly, I received a notification from LinkedIn informing me that they have disputed my position with them. Really low move.

Now I'm pissed.

I just want to know if I make a public post against them, will it affect me negatively in terms of public perception or future aspects?

I know I'm in the legal clear and the company is a very new startup and I'm not really worried about "burning bridges". My only concern is would a it potentially put off clients in the future?

Would appreciate some industry veterans weighing in!

Recently saw a post where a girl who’s started working got fired from her job due to some drama between her and the a RW mob on X and they kept tagging the company and forced her to be terminated. Haven’t really dived deep to check what the actual matter is but my point here is that should companies take action against employees for what they do on social media which doesn’t really involve the company.

Are there laws regarding this or anything mentioned when we join a company and does this set a bad precedent which jeopardises free speech ?

Should Employees be punished for what they post on social media ?

I was coerced into putting in my resignation without any severance or notice period. It didn't bode well with the founder when I refused, and he terminated my employment with immediate effect.

I haven't received a salary for the last month I worked there. The founder and the team are not responding to any of my calls, emails, and text messages.

Any advice on how to navigate this? Contemplating the legal route now.

I'm not sure what to do next. 
Do you think this will affect my future job prospects? 

I have records of that company in my PF account, but I don't consider it as part of my work experience. 

Do you think future employers will ask for documentation for all companies listed in my PF records?

Hello Grapevine fam, 

I want to share my story and get everyone's suggestions on how to proceed. 

I have been working with this startup for more than two years. Recently, my manager and HR head called me for a meeting and said I wasn't living up to their expectations and they wanted me to resign. In the same discussion they said, the company would be paying 2 months salary as severance pay and my LWD would be in June since the notice period here is 2 months and this would help me in my job hunt.

So having faith in this company, I resigned. Right after that my manager and the HR head is not legally acknowledging the two months of my salary as severance pay. And the very same day, they sent me the experience letter which had the same day as my last working day, despite them mentioning my LWD would be in June. 

How do I proceed now? I have given my best to the company in the last two years. But things turned out this way, very dejected and disappointed with the startup.

This competitor's CEO reached out to me recently and we talked for an hour. 

In the end, he asked my current TC which was quite surprising. He then offered me a 100% hike + 10L esops. 

Although the offer is tempting. I have a problem. There is a Non-Compete clause in my offer letter for 8 months. 

How can I tackle this? The CEO said that, if I make up my mind he will make sure that my current org doesn't know any of this. 

Please help me with all the suggestions!!

I'm currently working on an FTE job - wherein the offer letter its mentioned "During the term of your employment with the Company, you may not engage in any employment or act in any way, which either conflicts with your duties and obligations to the Company, or is contrary to the policies or the interests of the Company."

Now, I'm getting enough time and I want to consider working in a 0-1 startup, and the new company I'm joining will know about my current employer - The above mentioned is the only clause the current employer have regarding working in other company. Can the current employer legally put a case anytime in the future if they get to know this? - what are the loopholes I can use here?

What position I can join in as (Consultant, Advisory role) - Still an early career professional in order to avoid conflict afterwards.

Needed quick Legal Advice - On Moonlighting

I was working in a toxic environment, which should be a separate post, too long to explain here, tldr, I was put in pip, and then I resigned and put my notice, I like a responsible employee started finishing off my projects and tasks, giving KTs to other folks and junior. but now after this my company is saying ur lwd is 2 days from now, when in my contract notice is 2 months, HR says company has the right to waive off notice period without paying severance. What can I do currently, I don't have any job back up, so have to be unemployed for a while without any severance. Is this legally right from company sides, what possible things can I do currently?

I want to share my experience as a fresher at Accenture, my first company from a college placement. The first six months were fine, but then I faced severe mental harassment from my supervisor and manager. She constantly criticized my work and gave negative feedback, causing me immense stress. I often skipped meals and worked weekends to improve, but nothing helped.

Despite reporting the issue and requesting a supervisor change or a different track, my requests were ignored. The harassment worsened, affecting my physical health, and I couldn't eat or sleep properly. My manager controlled trivial aspects like where to sit and whom to talk to, making the situation unbearable. I was even forced to switch from a developer role to a tester, despite being trained as a developer.

The final straw was being placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) without a clear reason, with the same harassing individuals assessing me. I only had 1.9 years of experience then. I reported the mental harassment to HR and resigned due to deteriorating health, panic attacks, and weight loss. Despite having no other job offer, I couldn't continue. Even during my notice period, I was forced to complete PIP assignments, which led to suicidal thoughts and further health issues.

Now, I am jobless, feeling helpless and frustrated. With less than 2 of experience, I struggle to find offers in a down IT market and don't know what to do next.

I had been toiling in my current organization for a good while despite the compensation not being totally fair. Whenever I brought this discussion up with the CEO, he always played the friend card and promised to give me what I deserve once the company raises the next round. He also claimed to have supposedly saved me from the layoffs which was completely in his control in the first place. Now I got a better offer, kind of like a dream offer- one that I well deserve, and have convinced a challenging panel to get. One small concern is that during the initial stages of the application, I lied about how much I was getting paid currently. Now that I actually made it and got the offer, I have to submit the documents. How far are these things taken seriously?

I'm a 2021 graduate from a tier 3 college. I was working at a small startup based in Bengaluru that is into SAAS. The headcount is less than 20 and a completely remote job.

I don't have any notice period. I was told that I can leave the company whenever I want without any prior notice. And it's not mentioned anywhere in the contract. I had a promotion due in September 2022 in which the new agreement was supposed to be implemented where I had to serve a 90 day notice period and salary hike of 15% of my current CTC.

But the promotion was put on hold till now. I asked them multiple times but I was told that it's on hold indefinitely due to "shortage of funds".

On December 31st I sent a resignation letter as it will be my last working day. Even though it was a very short notice, I completed all the documentation about the things I worked on. Anyone who can understand English can deploy the entire product. And moreover everyone had worked on the product and almost everyone had a good understanding of the product. 

Sometime in 2021, I received a bonus of 62k which was sent to my personal bank account (the company itself didn't have a corporate account back then). Since the company didn't provide me any work laptop, I was told casually that I can use the bonus to purchase a new laptop or keep it to myself.

I made a mistake of now waiting to get the December month salary before resigning. Now he's telling me that the bonus he sent is for the company laptop and it will be adjusted as my December month salary. When I asked about the purpose of the bonus was not to get the company laptop but to keep it myself, he's refusing to accept it. (Almost everyone in the company uses their personal laptop).

And coincidentally there was a service outage as the company uses free services wherever available (for example, oracle cloud free tier, free version of slack, GitHub and lot more). Continued in comments....

So, I resigned from my last job last year in November. As per the company policy I was promised that my F&F will be settled 45 days after my last working day which happens to be the first week of Jan'24.

For some reason the signed documents got delayed from my end by 10 days. It's been more than one and a half months now and my F&F is still not credited. I keep calling the HR and that bitch literally gives me the same shit over and over again that "the signature from the CFO is pending".

I'm really confused about what to do. Is posting on LinkedIn a good idea or will it affect my career? The amount is significant, hence I don't want to risk it. 

In case there is a legal procedure to this, what are the next steps? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

F&F not getting settled, what to do?

I joined this job 3 months back. Things haven't been good. Part of the problem is that the people I am reporting into have little to no experience in the segment they are entering into and are not willing to listen to someone who has worked in this segment for 15+ years.

I am a little bemused.... I don't really need the job. But the money is nice.....

I work for a fairly popular and large Indian startup and I'm at a considerably senior position. As seen recently also with a lot of startups, my company is creating hurdles in my exit. I've resigned from the company but the company has a policy that allows them to accept or reject resignations at will. This is an after thought from what happened at Mojocare and Gomechanic. 

I too have been at a startup that was upto similar stuff. Was really large at one point, until everyone figured something was off. 

For me, the first year or so I never got a hint of things. But over time, as I became closer and more trusted by the founders, things became quite clear. Creation of invoices for the sake of it, recording transactions that were anyway happening in the offline world, as transactions on the platform. Basically buying invoices by giving back businesses some of the VC capital as incentives. It was all messed up.

I always thought of doing something once I figured it out, but ended up not doing it. My only action was to find new roles, and leave as soon as I could. 
I remember discussing with friends - should I reach out to journalists? The answer we came to was that it's too risky, even if done anonymously. AND, that people we know would lose their jobs if the reality came out.

Eventually, it did come out. More people lost their jobs, because in that 1 year they ended up growing more and hiring more. Maybe if I'd been a whistleblower earlier, a lot of money could have been saved, so many jobs would not be lost.
