What are your opinions on a 4 day work week?

I've been hearing a lot about this four-day work week concept lately. A friend of mine in New Zealand just started a job at a company that's trying it out. She says she's loving the extra day off, but I wonder about the long-term effects. Has anyone here experienced a compressed work week? I'm curious how it impacts productivity and work-life balance. If your company suddenly announced they were switching to a four-day week, how do you think it would go down?

4 day work week is for maintaining WLB. It makes sense in following cases: 1. Employees are living in metro cities with their families. Its beneficial to them. Unlike people who live outside their home state for work and their families are situated in the native state. 2. Married women employees. This will be Most beneficial for women as leads to flexibility. Will reduces the cases of women leaving the workforce post marriage or having kids. 3. I do not know if 4 day work week will reduce our workload. We have 5 day work week and still we stretch on weekends. So, this has to be factored too. 4. This can lead to working beyond normal hours on those 4 days to finish tasks in order to avoid stretching on the next 3 days of the week

Should I continue or resign

Hey peeps! Currently working in a Fintech company in Mumbai as a Frontend Engineer with over a year of experience. The current CTC is 7 LPA. I feel like the growth here is limited and from the past few months there's been a lot of micro-management. Even the CTC is not up to Mumbai's expense standard. I live in a soapbox and pay like 1/5 th of monthly salary. Standard of living has been decreasing while it should be opposite. + I've 6 days work week with 9 hours /day shift. Although I've decided to drop in papers soon, I'd like to hear your opinions. Brownie points if you refer me to some good early stage startup probably in BLR or Pune or Remote.

The BS about work life balance

Recently the CHRO of my company called me into a discussion on improving WORK LIFE BALANCE. Wow. I just cannot understand. Look at this. 1. Most companies work 5 days a week. (Except retail operations). So you get 52 weeks x 2. 104 days. 2. 30 days annual leav 3. 9 days statutory holidays. 4. Operational holidays. 3. 145 days of 365 days corporate people don’t come to office. And in a hybrid format even more. It is these corporate vultures who want work life Balance. How can u balance your life if u r unable to do it in 145 days. So Narayana murthy is right - work hard like 80% of india. Who have almost no weekly off. Just saying.
