What are your opinions on a 4 day work week?
I've been hearing a lot about this four-day work week concept lately. A friend of mine in New Zealand just started a job at a company that's trying it out. She says she's loving the extra day off, but I wonder about the long-term effects. Has anyone here experienced a compressed work week? I'm curious how it impacts productivity and work-life balance. If your company suddenly announced they were switching to a four-day week, how do you think it would go down?
4 day work week is for maintaining WLB. It makes sense in following cases:
1. Employees are living in metro cities with their families. Its beneficial to them. Unlike people who live outside their home state for work and their families are situated in the native state.
2. Married women employees. This will be Most beneficial for women as leads to flexibility. Will reduces the cases of women leaving the workforce post marriage or having kids.
3. I do not know if 4 day work week will reduce our workload. We have 5 day work week and still we stretch on weekends. So, this has to be factored too.
4. This can lead to working beyond normal hours on those 4 days to finish tasks in order to avoid stretching on the next 3 days of the week
