Curated from across
I got an offer from Amazon but unfortunately at Chennai location. What are some areas which are north Indian friendly and have a mix culture where I won't be harrassed for being from North and can live peacefully. Also do you have some good source to learn enough Tamil to survive?

I got a good offer for 40LPA as a senior frontend dev and current ctc of 25LPA. I am wondering, if i can go any higher in chennai. Can any one shed some light? Product companies are limited here so no calls for interview and service companies are not even offering 30LPA. I am not interested in moving to Bangalore/Hyderabad. Posting here coz not much posts related to chennai.

After thinking for long.. Almost decided that I can move to Chennai. Child's education and Family support for elderly, comparatively less expensive are the pros. But on the con side, I see lesser career options for an MBA grad. But in the end I feel I can manage with lesser choices as pros seem to outweigh cons. Any advice and inputs

Hey designers, I’ve recently moved to Chennai and trying to sync in with this city. Looking forward to connect with more like minded people. Any of you guys interested in a meetup? We can even interact virtually and grow as a community.

What do you think is the right salary package (CTC - including variable pay) for an IT Senior Manager (.Net) 17-18YOE in Service companies like CTS / TCS / HCL / Infosys... Location: Chennai

I've been living in BLR all my life and been living in Gurgaon for about 4 months now because of company transfer. I thought BLR was bad until I came to Gurgaon. 1) The complete lack of apathy and compassion is off the charts here. People are so individualistic and small issues turn into huge fights. One example being a guy in a Fortuner hit my Hyundai hatchback from behind and screamed and made a scene when it was his fault and the guys all around supported him, I knew limited Hindi and I had to pay money to get the hell out of the place. 2) Climate and pollution: No words here. Extremely hot and polluted. 3) Rents have almost reached BLR levels or more 4) infrastructure: I thought BLR infra was shit but roads are non existent here and streets get water logged and stays waterlogged for 10 hours even after rains stopped lol. It feels like a dead City with no life, depressing and a concrete jungle.

I have been in a rewarding career in Chennai for about a decade. Came in as a fresher but now married and have 2 kids. Have an option to move to Noida now. Given cultural differences, elder kid now finds it difficult to adjust at school. Elderly parents dont find the weather and neighbors friendly enough to live with me for more than a month. Remain stuck in the apartment. People who have lived both in Chennai and Noida, please share your experiences on a cost of living and future career options in NCR perspective.
