What is the worst business/startup idea you've ever seen?

Basically the title. What is a business idea you saw or heard of and thought "surely this can't be real" but the other person was totally serious? I'll go first - a CEO I was talking to went in detail about meeting this student (emphasised on destiny and how bright the student was, etc etc) and said his idea was - Companies can't advertise on their carry bags by law so we should buy that advertising space and sell it to other companies. For clarification - Courts have said a consumer can't be a buyer as well as advertiser, so if a carry bag has the brand's logo or something on it, you can't charge for it. This CEO and the "bright student" thought that the law just prohibited the brand from advertising its own self on the bag. I asked him if he was trying to say we should buyout the space on all McDonald's carry bags and advertise Domino's or Reynolds on it, and he said "Yes."

Prorata cars, Startup buys a vehicle, leases it to group of 4-12 friends, and allows usage like rental car for equal tenure, repeat untill 5yrs then scrap the car and redistribute proceeds. Explaning their stupid offering from my memory. 4 guys wants a Thar car pay 5L each to startup they buy the car form an LLC and lease back to users for 5years and also charge few 20-30k annual maintenance fee. Each guy gets to use the car for 4/12= 3 months per annum. And after 5 years company sell the car and distribute sum among them. They claim to take responsibility of accident repair, but don't have any action plan in case of unavoidable availability problem or scheduling mismatch, and many other genuine questions.

Why don't we have deep tech ?

Hi all, I graduated from IIT Delhi and have been working at well established startup since. So for a while I have been wondering why we don't have any deep tech startups doing innovation. Don't get me wrong, there are startups doing innovations but not the kind of innovation which we would call industry shattering or taking the level up a notch. Most of these innovations are just integrating what others are doing in an aggregated platform. I again wondered this today when I saw cognition launching Devin the AI software engineer. They have a pretty small yet highly talented team. We in India too have highly intelligent folks educating themselves in CS, why don't we have this mindset (even I don't have this mindset). Is it about the difference in culture or a sense of security that folks in the US have that helps them be free from an economic point of view and try innovative things ?

Thinking of build my own startup. Have questions?

I've a great idea and it's validated after talking to more than 50 founders/head of sales. Questions - 1. What's the process of getting a domain/and checking if the domain/product name is not a brand name globally anywhere? 2. Wrt raising funding, any founders here who can throw some light on how much salaries you used to take? I am not very inclined towards bootstrapping rn. 3. What were the challenges wrt starting your website, getting it validated by running ads etc? Maybe some D2C founders can help me out here. 4. What tools did you use for your first MVP launch? Thanks

What are some of the mindless things that high funded startups do?

My first startup had a smoking zone where there was gramophone looking art piece where people used to dump their ashes. Later someone told me that it’s a Bluetooth speaker and no one cared to put it back after the party that happened two weeks back. That was true culture shock.
