Napoleon, The French Emperor and Military Commander

I've been watching a few documentaries on his military tactics. His innovative tactics and organisational reforms revolutionised warfare, setting the standard for modern military operations. His military campaigns, known as the Napoleonic Wars, reshaped the map of Europe and influenced military thought for generations.

Personally, the battle at Austerlitz remains to be the best showcasing Napoleon's tactical brilliance and audacious maneuvering. In the midst of a freezing December day, his Army faced the combined forces of the Russian and Austrian empires atop the icy Lake Satschan. With the enemy mistakenly believing his right flank was weak, Napoleon executed a deception, withdrawing his troops to lure the Allies onto the fragile ice. As the ice cracked and creaked beneath their weight, the French unleashed their firepower, shattering the frozen surface and sending thousands of enemy soldiers plunging into the icy waters, resulting in multiple casualties and ultimately victory.

Napoleon's rise from humble beginnings to becoming Emperor and his eventual downfall at the Battle of Waterloo is a legendary story of ambition and power.

I find it curious at least that in my undergrad batch, out of all the people who went to abroad 80% of them were women. What factors would contribute to that?

[Pattern] Noticed recently that more women have gone abroad to settle than Men...

This happened to my ex flatmate in 2019. He's a Chinese Indian guy from Kolkata (relevant), was working an entry level job at a FAANG company going home after a night shift on his bike.

Drunk local on a bike starts swerving around in front of him, he tries to overtake but is forced to stop because the guy blocked his way and braked hard. This happened near Marathahalli.

Drunk guy comes up to him and starts blabbering dumb shit, accusing him of stealing his phone followed by racist comments. Then proceeds to call the cops from his phone which was actually in his own pocket (make of that what you will).

Cops take them both to the station. Drunk guy cooks up some story in Kannada and leaves. Cops start grilling my flatmate, more racist comments, threaten to go check his room (our flat) and start bullying him. Said he kind of looked like one of the wanted posters they had. He knew basic kannada so he had an idea of what racist stuff the cops were saying about him that they thought he didn't understand.

He was messaging me updates in the brief moments that he had his phone with him, which was confiscated by cops for the most part.

Eventually they let him go because there was literally no crime and no proof.

Tl;dr - He had to spend 6+ hours in the station because of one drunk asshole and racist cops who just liked to give non-locals a hard time for no good reason.

What sets us apart is not just our culture but even our unwavering belief in the power of Indians to shape their own destiny. From the smallest of towns in rural India to the tech scene in Bangalore, we are a nation brimming with energy, creativity, and ambition. We are a nation on the cusp of greatness, poised to unleash its full potential upon the world stage.

Already, we see glimpses of India's greatness to come. But perhaps most importantly, I see it in the eyes of our youth. It is a generation brimming with hope, optimism, and a hunger for success.

Just curious, no need to be offended.

I see many people here talking about it. "Indian culture Indian culture" what will happen if it vanishes, don't tell me bs about "other community" or "western tradition will take over".
What will happen if our culture is not here anymore? Also isn't this kind of bs? We won't actually forget who we are, I would still boast about my great grandfather fighting for India during independence to my kids and grandkids.

Even if it vanishes in next 50 years my surname will be same for coming centuries. Even if it vanishes today, my digestive, respiratory systems and other systems would work perfectly normal. I would still remember all my gods and worship them.
So my questions are:

1. What is Indian culture for you?

2. Why is it important for you (no bs reasons like community taking over, or kids should know this, genuine reasons only please)

3. What will happen if it vanishes?

If you haven't thought about it, think deeply. Why? What? And How?

What will actually happen if we lose Indian culture?

Whenever I read foreign media outlets, India is the new Asian Tiger that will outpace most emerging economies in growth. But Indian media and Indian people act like India is the worst place to be.

The dichotomy is extremely confusing. Why is it that foreign media coverage on our economy is more favourable than our own hopes and aspirations from this country?

PS: I am really big on Indian Exceptionalism, the belief that India's economic development and trajectory are unique or exceptional compared to other nations, driven by our large and diverse population, thriving middle class, our entrepreneurial spirit, and the emphasis on technology and innovation.

Why do Indians hate India?

As everyone knows, India is a multilingual country. What do you think is the one language that could unify India as a linguistic nation: English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, or any other? Do you feel that there's a strong need for this in India, or is it not desirable to have one linguistic nation? Indian SDEs on LinkedIn & Twitter are some of the worst engineers you will ever find across the real world. Their typical value lies around:

- Cracking a FAANG/MAANG or Product company.
- Make an announcement on LinkedIn & Twitter and accumulating followers.
- Starting YouTube channel, Topmate links, affiliate marketing channels, and more.
- Rant DSA, System Design, Interview resources all day long. 
- Post daily of their office, their colleagues, candid shots, and barely getting any work done.

While this is expected out of early career professionals, it pains to see senior SDEs doing the same shit over and over again. Things don't end here — Everyone talks about creating a revolution. And the revolution is teaching DSA. 

If you are an experienced SDE and still ranting DSA, it just means that you have barely learnt anything that is of worth any value. You are atmost a "Ticket Engineer". You get assigned a Jira ticket, you bust your ass solving it, and that's it. That's your entire value. 

Its high time that these "Bhaiya", "Didis", "Bhabhis" stop ranting DSA and System Design over and over, and build something of real value. You would barely see any credible open-source projects coming out of India (but hey, we have some many contributors!), barely any Indie dev project, or anything that captures the attention of the world. 

Literally every popular SDE you might follow or see over your social media is the same. Their entire community game is a farce and designed to capture gullible college students and shill thousands of rupees out of them. You might be featured on Times Square ($40 ka showoff), but no one would remember you for anything that you built.

Indian SDEs will do all DSA and System Design chatter but cannot create any real value

Life is becoming so hard 😔. I no longer see kids playing around. People are no longer excited/tend to visit relatives as often. All people are just cringing on Instagram all day. There is so much misguiding going around. People are becoming less religious and losing Indian essence and adopting and influenced by more Western life.

In MSFT I feel like I see atleast one or more Indians in every team I come across... May be it's some bias that I only remember the teams with Indians but still feels like indians form the major part of the global tech work force.. have you felt the same..?

So, I have heard multiple people that 20s is about exploring. Explore different jobs, work style, people etc , you name it!
   I believe with that, you cannot think of earning as exploration into different roles results in being at the same level across roles.
