What's the most toxic incident you've come across at your workplace?

Hi , this post is intended to be a disclaimer to anyone who is planning to join Yubi. A lot of things are happening here that show some signs of an impending layoff 1) Several senior folks in tech and product have quit. Also there is no replacement hiring planned for them. Several projects are also getting shelved as a result. 2) there were several open roles a few weeks back and almost all of them are on hold as of now across all depts( tech , business , ops) 3) rampant cost cutting. The lunch options have been reduced to just 1 dal , 1 veg , rice and chapati. Snacks have been removed too. Because of several folks quitting in less than 6 months and no replacement hiring , load has increased tremendously on existing members who are themselves trying to leave. People have serious doubts on whether any hike or bonus will be given or not this year.

I am working as SDE 1 in a good Indian startup. It's getting toxic day by day. Late night workings like 3AM and working on weekends is normalised like anything. Since I am new to IT ( no sort of politics never) and have almost 2.5 Years of experience, I am facing issues in getting credits. Last appraisal cycle in January, I was nominated for promotion but wasn't given to me, reason: you have not worked with architect and he was making decisions. In that case, architect should have been distributed tasks to us. one SDE3 is leading one of the projects ( not a big one ) and manager/architect is not much interested and never join any standup or retro, I have contributed immensely to that. Now since it is completely driven by sde 3 , he takes updates from us and show his work infront of seniors and director + announces like his work and seldom we get thank you in threads. Like if you did one function or wrote complete flow, for both thank you. Because of all these reasons, my work is not getting recognised. There is no one in team to help in this. Whenever a manager or Architect show cases some features or release, it's pretty evident that his team has done it but when a sde 3 does it, it is not the same. It conveys the message all or 90% work is done by him. I would like to take some suggestions from my seniors and fellow mates here. Hierarchy - sde 1-2-3-4-EM I can't leave or switch right now due to some critical persona reasons.

And are there signs somebody could pick up even before joining?

Hi folks, It’s a very detrimental time for me. I have been working with an organisation I don’t want to name. My manager is beyond Toxic, each day there hasn’t been a single day he hasn’t yelled at me and few other new folks in the team regardless of us doing heavy sweeping. He is so Toxic that even through I have leaves he does not approve them, recently someone in my family passed away even through I discussed I will be out of station and would be on leave to which he agreed. He has rejected it on the 2nd last day, when I have booked the flights and assured my family that I will be there at this grave time when they need me. I am at a point where he has pushed me to a point wherein I don’t have an option but to resign which he did around the financial year closing so the increment will be divided amongst less number of people. I have an education loan to look after and responsibilities of my parents, I am the single breadwinner in the family at this point of time. Hanging in there is becoming really difficult. Any advice or help would really help.

I had a boss who asked a colleague on their notice period to report to work when they were actually sick. 100+ fever on consecutive days. He took him to a client meeting, where he fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. The boss said - "Uski kismat hi kharab hai."

Currently working for Foreign Startup, under a Indian Engineering Manager. Manager is incompetent, doesn't like disagreemets. If you disagree with him, then he goes to length to make your life diffult. Already seen few examples in the team. There are red flag all over the place. I'm not sure how upper management is not able to catch him. He does the politics, favoritism, etc... List goes on and on. Any help would be appreciated. P.S Don't want to leave the company in this market.

Some days ago my manager asked me not to get too involved in informal conversation with a female colleague. According to she, it can affect my appearance and hence my ratings :) The Nazi idiot missed part that Slavery is already abolished in our society and I am free to talk/flirt responsibly with whoever I like, as long as other person won’t mind in any space. Do you guys have this level experience with toxic/dumb managers ?

I'll go first 👇🏻 - My employer hired me when it was Fully WFH, now they force me to join office after 8 months of joining. - Attend 5 days/week - No hybrid - Biometric system to track attendance - Complete 180 hours in a month or pay cut - No relocation support - Less appraisal (~5%) citing market conditions. - Removed unlimited leaves just a few days below announcing WFO. FYI: I was named best employee for 2023 Q1

Since I’ve been working under a crappy management just wanted to know what others are going through as well. My manager takes a PL off my account everyday since I’m on notice period in the hopes this will convince me to rescind my registration and work under her 💀
