Why are HR's not transparent

I cleared all the interview rounds for a role at GE Healthcare but the HR is ghosting me since 2 weeks after we agreed upon the offer verbally. Every day I keep following up for updates but the response I get is that approval has to be provided by global team. Has anyone faced such issues at other companies or is this something that is common.

I'll go first. I got a call for an APM role from one of the companies which did sound pretty sketchy and the recruiter was started bullying me into answering questions, when I asked to know more about the role. The recruiter was extremely unprofessional, and obviously the conversation was nowhere great. They however, did go ahead and sent me the JD and other links, etc to fill in and apply for the job. Mind you, I hadn't applied for the job. 🥲 It just was a pretty sour conversation which had left me in an uncertain situation. Any similar experiences?

Hi all, How common is it to clear all interviews and still not get an offer? The recruiter confirmed I've cleared all interviews & asked for salary expectations etc. As next steps I've to wait for the hiring team to decide based on pay among candidates. Ive never had someone ask me details like notice period, current compensation documents post clearing interviews & still be unsure of offer. Can hiring managers please throw some light on this?

I am seeing a lot of layoff related posts everywhere from news articles to LinkedIn.. Is the Job market really that bad now? Or just the media is projecting that way? If it's really bad, which department you think is the most affected? How's layoffs specifically in India? Or is it layoffs in US but more hiring in India due to cost cutting? Are layoffs in technology/engineering dept as in for developers or some other departments? Your thoughts please..

I cleared two interview rounds, and today I was supposed to receive a call from HR for salary discussion. Additionally, HR informed me that they would roll out the offer letter today, but I haven't received any update yet. Should I wait, or should I reach out for an update? Also I don't want to look desperate but getting anxious to know ....

Dear colleagues, I'm a consultant with approximately 9.5 years of experience in the IT field. Recently, I underwent an interview with HCL, marking my first interview in five years. I successfully cleared the technical round and proceeded to a discussion with HR, which lasted approximately 35 minutes. During this conversation, the HR representative primarily focused on process-related inquiries, without touching upon compensation matters. They assured me that I would receive further updates from the initial HR contact regarding the next steps. However, it's been a week since then, and I haven't received any updates yet. Despite my attempts to reach out to HR, they've informed me that they're still awaiting feedback from the functional HR who conducted the interview. I'm uncertain whether this indicates a rejection. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation? Should I continue waiting for the call or consider other opportunities? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I had a very positive interview experience with one of the firms. I had cleared 3 rounds and my final round was a culture round with HR head and few colleagues from other departments. We had a very fruitful and fun conversation as well throughout the call. But after that it's been 3 weeks and they haven't contacted me or even sent a rejection mail. Not sure how to go about this, I have sent the HR a mail too to check on any updates. Any advice on how should I proceed?

Is HR ghosting a very common practice in the industry, even when they are hiring the candidate? Do they make you beg for the offer before rolling out? Why HRs, what's the motive behind?

In the last 3 months, I have appeared for PM interviews for three major startups. After collectively going through 12 interviews (3 of them in person) and 2 assignments - I have nothing to show for. The position just evaporates AFTER the whole process has been done. In one of the cases, HR also collected all the necessary documents like salary slips, appointment letter from current org and the likes and asked me put down my papers over a verbal commitment. Good thing I didn't do that. It's so ridiculous that these so called unicorns can't even do one little hiring correctly. And how it's even possible to initiate hiring if they don't even have the clarity on whether they want to hire or not? Idk if it's the consequence of a shitty job market or it's my luck. Just feeling extremely frustrated because there's nothing I can do about it. I clear all the interviews and do the assignments perfectly - what else I can do? HRs don't even have the guts to apprise me proactively. They'll just stall releasing of the offer letter for weeks and stop taking your calls. One fine day when they finally decide to spare some of their holy time - it's usually a one line response: Position went on a hold, will let you know. Bye. Indian job market is really the worst. Absolutely zero ethics and no value for anyone's time.
