Why is there no work life balance in Indian corporate setup?
So basically the title. European countries like are flirting with the idea of 4 days work week and here at India we have people like Narayan Murthy who is suggesting youngsters to work for 70 hours per week and many people are supporting him including one politician from Congress. I mean why is it so? It makes my blood boil and it's motivating me everyday to leave this country and get a job at some European nation.

When you have a population of a billion, it isnt easy to chill 4 days a week. While europeans cos are contemplating on moving to a 4 day work week, there would be an indian out there working all 7 days.

Be ready to be paid immigrant wages, face racial discrimination and stay in fear of losing your work authorisation. While there are pros of working abroad; they come with these and more CONS.
The grass is NOT always greener on the other side.
All the best.

We have more people manager than doer.
Doer are half skilled. People manager do micromanagement to get things done.

In my organisation (an MNC) our peers leave after 8-9 hours of work and have a life outside of work (hobbies, fitness etc). In the Indian arm, < 10 hours of work would get you a stinker from the head saying “we need to be prompt with our deliverables, please try not to leave this early”

I work in the Indian arm of the discussed MNC
Because we are a country where the employer still has a majority of the power and not the employee. But the sale is starting to shift, slowly
Na. It ain't when there is billion of people in population where if one is not willing to work, there will always be another to work for less

We have been tuned to such circumstances from Day1 since 1990s when IT companies come to India. This didnt occur all of a sudden and things are going in right path as more employees knows this game. It won't take much time till such cruel companies doom to failure.
European companies are also laying off their clients because the economy is struggling to pick itself up from volatility of past 2-3 years. And the guidance is still looking quite bleak there. Tread that path carefully my friend. Just saying.
