Why is work from office so hated?
Hi guys, new to Grapevine and I have seen this as a common point here, on Reddit & Twitter than Indian software engineers actively hate in-office work on social media Trying to understand why is that so. All of my college mates have joined in-office & most preferred that as well. I myself had a terrible learning experience in my remote intern & have had much more success in our startup when we are all together I understand the pros of remote work, but why is the negative sentiment so strong suddenly? Is this a niche group echoing this
I have to travel a total of two hours every day to go to office & return due to Bangalore traffic; and the commute back in the evening drains me preventing me from working after reaching home. And if I miss the office provided shuttle then I have to spend 500 rs one way to travel to/from office, total of 1000 rs both ways. Every day.
And on top of this I have to spend my free time in between work (coffee breaks lunch breaks etc) with office colleagues instead of parents - office colleagues are great tbh but at the end of the day parents are parents, family is family, why would I choose to spend most of the time with office colleagues instead of family
On top of this my sister works in a different city and I want to spend time with her as well; which I can’t do if I have to stay in Bangalore to go to office. Every time I leave her place to go back to Bangalore for work she tells me that she will miss me. It breaks my heart that I have to go leave her for some random employer that can lay me off anytime

Kaam chori, moonlighting - ask everyone for paid offsite or office party - with response you will know.. a lot of them would be ok to come twice a month anywhere on planet.. old parents, kids settled in hometown and not willing to move, I can discount but rest, trust me - don’t trust..

Office main kaunsa kaam Hota h 😂😂😂
Pretend to work has been a long pratha
So don’t say WFH and WFO in respect to kaam chori
I have felt I did more work in WFH rather than WFO in last 3 years

It’s just preference, if you choose to WFO pls go ahead
The hate will never stop anyway
For most people it’s flexibility between home, parents or their loved ones, staying in your own hometown, working form anywhere, taking care of health of self and loved ones, saving more money and working of course
Every setup has its pros and cons, eod it’s all about personal preference
Not echoing any hate for WFO
People who are still learning prefer work from office, since everyone is accessible .. people who are at a stage where they will impart knowledge or have an IC kind of role prefer work from home. Such people also have a parallel life to take care of ( kids, house, old parents etc
