This company has gone downhill, there are constant layoff and the management is not exactly good. They talk a lot about culture but it's all in papers .

A lady took the first round which was through a video call . It was a discussion for a senior role. Objective of this discussion was to collect information about my work experience and share the information in a specific  format with founders. 
Lady started the discussion with camera on but was constantly smiling to someone in the office as if there is some discussion is going on  and she has to do this work which she is totally not interested in. 
Later she switched off the camera and continued the discussion . After that  she shared a screen and asked me to help her filling the details. Even if I get a call from Thai company , I am not gonna appear for an interview. 
Speaks a lot about the culture this company is having.

I had an interview today with a service-based company. The first round was conducted by someone who used to be a content writer but is now a community lead with no design background.

During the interview:

Interviewer: Asked me to showcase my proudest work.
Me: Presented a detailed walkthrough of a feature, explaining every design decision and inviting questions throughout.
Interviewer: Expressed high praise for my work and asked about my design system.
Me: Explained my design system approach, including the collaboration and cross-team communication it required.
Interviewer: Continued to be impressed.
Me: Thanked them.
Interviewer: Inquired about my salary expectations.
Me: Stated my expectation.
*Now things gets mad*
Interviewer: Criticized my design system as outdated and implied my work could be done by a beginner watching YouTube. Asked me to prove my worth was really upto the salary expectations.
Me: Pointed out that I had already justified my value through my work during the past 50 minutes.


It's disheartening that the interviewer discredited my soft skills and the experience I gained from two years of designing. They seemed to dismiss my achievements due to a lack of "full-time experience." It would have been more appropriate if they had asked follow-up questions about my portfolio. This experience felt like a waste of time, as the interviewer appeared immature and conducted the interview poorly, despite having over 8 years of experience. It's a disappointing and unprofessional approach to an interview.

Had a weird job interview experience a few days ago, for a pretty senior-ish PM position. This was the first round interview with the team after a basic recruiter round.

Hiring manager joins the call on his phone with camera off. Sure no problem. 

He was presumably on AirPods with terrible sound quality, and his internet connection was terrible too. I could hear 2 out of 5 words.

I pointed it out immediately, thinking that he would change his internet connection or something. But it continued throughout the interview. 

I kept telling him that I can't hear him to either repeat himself or point out that its his internet connection. 

This ended up breaking the flow of the conversation.

He turned on video during the interview, I even told him to switch off his video to improve the quality. Barely improved even then. 

Still told him that I can't hear him. He even changed his room to see if it helped. Didn’t. He should've been embarrassed by now? 

He didn’t suggest an alternative — to move to a phone call or reschedule later, wondering whether I should have. I've never faced this before, so didn’t know what was appropriate.

Then towards the end, puts on his video again and I see that he is eating something. 💀 

I don’t know if this is normal???

If he was so busy, he could've possibly rescheduled instead of wasting both our time. He chose the time. 

I know it's an employer's market, but how bad is it?

Damm yesterday i met the most dumb@&& idi&₹t interviewer ever. I was interviewing with him for principal engineer role. 
Oh dude his ego was out of the roof, Asking a question and then saying ok leave it aside jumping to next question. Asking bookish subjective questions.
Dude that guy can demotivate and kill a newbie not sure how he might be treating his peers in his organization.

I have been trying to get in to the G for a long time now. I even have applied abroad G but here I don't seem to get even a little response. It's not like they have ghosted my application. I felt that there is something fishy going on in G which no one is talking about. I also looked at the recent free annual meetings and eventhough I am fully qualified for such, the response is not as expected and I can literally see another guy who belongs to certain BLANK is attending the meeting.

What's really happening inside G in India?? Any inside info will help me not to look for offers from that company.

I recently applied to Indian Fintech, first round went well. Got no response from HR for 3-4 days. Once I called her on 5th day, she told me that I had cleared first round and they will assignment next day. Assignment didn’t arrive for 2 more days. HR stopped picking my calls. After this I reached out to third party recruiter (who started the process initially). She contacted this company HR and they sent me assignment next day. 

I had to complete it in 48 hour strict timeline. Spent entire 2 days on it and barely slept. I submitted it on time. 

After this no reply from HR for 4 days. Finally I reached out to my interviewer from first round for help. He said he will remind HR. 

Next day I got call from HR that all open positions are closed and we will consider u in future. No feedback on assignment was given. Not even sorry for making u wait. 

Isn’t the only thing HRs need to be good at is people handling & professional communication?
