SABBATICAL OR RESIGNATION

Hi everyone I'm preparing for my MBA, and to focus on my exams, I decided to quit my job last week My company the offered me a 3month unpaid sabbatical, end date falls after my exams, so that I can study, but after these 3months, my job may or may not be confirmed, chances are high for the latter I have a medical problem which recently aggravated, and the company stated that they can provide the necessary documentation for my extended leave using this. I just wanted to check, what would be the better option, to continue with my decision of quitting or taking the sabbatical leave. Will the Sabbatical leave on grounds of medical reasons effect my job hunt down the line? My fear is that during my sabbatical, they will have the flexibility to contact me as and when necessary.

Is there any financial difference in the two options? What will full and final settlement look like? From what I can understand, you might have to look for a job in either case. Do you want to resign and make it a certainty or hang on to the sabbatical with some chance of getting your job back if you want? I think the reason they're offering a sabbatical is to have a backup candidate in case they aren't able to fill your vacancy in 3 months. They might also contact you for help during these 3 months but you wouldn't be under a lot of obligation to do it (except maybe holding your full and final settlement).

No, there is no financial implication, the sabbatical is unpaid, and obviously I won't get paid after my last date since I quit. My concern is about my future job roles, how do HRs at new jobs view sabbaticals, especially due to a medical condition? Also during my sabbatical, if I don't respond to them if they need my help, could there be any consequences for me, I honestly would not want any distractions during exams, the reason I quit in the first place.
