AI in IT industry
now a days I'm hearing a lot about AI within my project. is it really impacting and will impact our roles in the future? How to manage this situation? What should Automation test engineers or Developer are required to do survive in the IT industry? pls comment you thoughts..

I believe AI hype will become stagnant.

It would not , people have started using it in many unique ways .

Let's talk seriously when AGI arrives. Till then it's just bluff. Surely generic jobs need to be scared but not the ones that require creative and intellectual input.

Well , yes its really important. I am a backend architect / dev and i use AI heavily. The way i see it , AI will co exist and like calculator was to manual way of calculations , similarly AI will supercharge . Example of how i personally use :
- Brain storm ideas
- i could build 70 % of the apps(tjis is without me even having knowledge of ios swift and it works ) , backend , ui using AI. Cuts down a lot of code writing time. Also if you are really good at debugging and prompting it really works well.
- Automated testing workflows ,
How to survive :
Dont resist , spend time to upskill
Play around with AI .Its fun

Start preparing for govt jobs before it's too late

Already the recruitments have slowed down.. New jobs are not getting created while old ones are becoming obsolete. Because of the productivity gains, most roles are moved one level up the ladder...

This conversation is very interesting, I had few thoughts AI is taking some of the work to think innovatively and automating things, helping in writing lines of codes which we ask for but we humans should ask for something. It means ideally it's taking over some work. Is it not decreasing manpower? Can experts comment on this? But also I feel like we need to train it and make it in a way to give output for any new solutions we need to redesign the model but even the agentic ai may come into picture. Even I feel this software job is a bit risky and not secure

Im the only one tester in my team. I'm allowed to use copilot. I use it for complex logic implementation still here we need to be more intellectual and creative while asking questions to AI. Here, the point is I'm thinking, arranging, and executing, AI is not automatically updating my code when I ask questions, and It's executing tasks when I need to. To conclude it - if AI starts doing all these things, we are not needed.
and to your question - yes I can see reducing the resources in my project as well. earlier we had multiple resources work in the same team we discuss together and perform tasks. now one creative and intellectual resource is enough to perform task by getting help AI.
Just written whatever comes in my mind. don't care if I'm deviated.

it's not executing tasks*

AI is bound to replace jobs no doubt and it's currently happening and expected to get worse. There are many factors directly or indirectly which will cause it. But the question to ask is who will be affected and not how? If you possess impressive critical problem solving abilities and can handle your psych very well then even if you are laid off then there's a possibility of you getting re-hired. But, if you are someone who can't handle your psych well and have limited problem solving skills then oh boy buckle up and start sharpening your brain 🧠. Because shit is it about to get real for folks falling under this category.

And people who are saying AI is all a hype and it will wear away. You're right, this hype will go away but it doesn't mean that people who have got skilled at utilizing AI will magically disappear. Those productive people are here to stay and will probably hate if AI access is taken away from them as they realize that they are making shitload money out of it.
Trend is more and more people will continue to upskill in AI causing a major disadvantage for folks who don't use it.
You might still see a horse carriage but not as abundant as cars on the road. Truth is a person owing a car might be significantly richer in monetary wealth then who owns a horse carriage. So, if you want to earn insane money then get upskilled in AI or else continue to be currently wherever you're but also remember that your situation would be similar to a horse carriage owner. Ofcourse you'll make money but just enough to survive like a horse carriage owner.

Here is my 2 cents
I am Not from a technical background but I hover around tech so I know enough to understand what is what for.
Now my friend who is a manager in Flipkart is from a commerce background. Zero exposure to coding, he is trying to automate a process. He is asking chat gpt to write a code and then again asking it to explain each and every element and its purpose in the code. He has progressed so much that he is in the testing phase, once all the testing is done he will add some more features and will be done with it.
With the help of AI you actually do not need to memorise the syntax but you should know is why this code should be written in the first place. What is the purpose of each and every element. According to me anyone who is mindlessly coding and not putting any effort into understanding the logic behind it will suffer in the future. Those who are mugging the algorithms without understanding the business impact will be left behind.

It's uncertain how good it will be, because it's goodness has increased so many times over in the last 12 months
Hard to predict. you have only one option - be optimistic, learn to work with it to make your work better, so you stand to profit when it reaches the peak.

No it's not. AI will replace at least 80 percent person hours needed for any project, which translates to less number of resources. Best you can do is know how to leverage AI for your work and be at the top.

People who started to use AI and improved their productivity are Love the AI.
And People who doesn't started to use it are fearing it.
If you don't learn AI then your junior will replace you, not AI.
Or you will replace your senior.
Time to grind harder.
