Bangalore is an over-rated city
"Macha why do you like Bangalore? Weather bro."
These tech bros can't stand normal weather, but will go through shitty infra, traffic, hooliganism, and what not for slightly better weather.
What made you stick here for longer than you expected?
Or if you've moved out of the city, which city comes close to it next?
Bangalorean in the house. I'm going to answer for new Bangalore (Everything North of Silk Board, East of Kormangala and Indiranagar and North of Banaswadi)
I love the weather, always have. Never knew what summers and winters truly meant. But it's slipping away.
Opportunities. I can't even begin to explain how much I took this for granted. Lived here, went to the best colleges here and now, happy with the choices I get to have here. Comfy comfy, without having to compromise a lot.
Traffic: the pain is real especially after Covid. I lived in an era where we could zoom from Vijaynagar to Basveshwaranagar in 20 mins. Now taking our car out for a coffee 800m away is a pain. (small car, mind you). I still can't believe the filth the city (non) planning is.
Rent. I lived in a rental home at Bangalore all my life. 2021 began to see a spike in rents like never before. Holy shit. We'd just moved into our own home then and I can't thank my stars enough. My heart goes out to those who have single income families and kids to look out for while paying exorbitant rent into abyss.
Overcrowded: where are all these people from?? (Rhetorically). Post Covid the population has exploded and it's causing an ominous bubble around us. Truly. It's become a Mumbai. I can't see a difference anymore.
Next best city? Pune. Not long before it becomes a Bangalore.
Pune will become Hyd. Hyd will become BLR. BLR will become Bombay. And Bombay will make us wait for the next big thing.
Everyone in blr will fall under the category. There is only one reason to stick around BlR. Home loan/own property.

Bangalore's infra has been crumbling under the weight of its population growth. I believe that yesterday's traffic jam was just a trailer and situation will only worsen with time.
