Are all startup life is same?

I’ve been working in a startup since last 8 months and I am exhausted. The team size is around 30 (frontend and backend). Some weekends are working too and there’s nothing like timings. I am left with nothing but just work, no other activities and no social life. Is it same with everyone working at a startup? Curious to know Ps - it is a work from office job!

It's overall quite sad that despite better technology, we're moving towards higher number of working hours for most of us - a lot of times without the monetory outcome that needs to follow

Not all startups, but a lot of them I've worked at a startup earlier, where things did get intense every now and then - but there were also enough cool off periods to catch up on life

It all comes down from the founder/team lead

+1 super important to do your research in the company/founder before joining.

You need to know what you’re signing up for

Honestly speaking, startups are made by passionate people. Thats why they are willing to pay you big money.

So you have to match to their passon. They have to beat competition of market to see some life. Do you know 90% start ups fail.

If you join startup, this is given unsaid rule i feel - long hours and scientist like mindset not a routine human being who likes entertainment in life.

Ive worked at multiple startups.

Few suggestions: 1/ founder leadership attitude: if founders setup meetings and wants update on weekend then all the leaders will push you hard to operate on weekends and other off days 2/ most of the times reporting manager will have no power to improve your wlb 3/ set your boundaries, be ready to walk away or start looking out for options if things are not going to change (you’ll know within 3 mos of joining a startup whether you can work there for long or not) 4/ take some time off: tell your manager that you are on verge of a burn out. And take a break (this is a short term solution?

I think most start-ups pre series B have a bad WLB. At some point startup then have to reinvent their culture to become a better place to work at to scale up. Meesho is a good example of that.

Even in medium - larger companies I've experienced atleast 4-6 months of higher work load from time to time as teams have trouble scaling up.
