Biryani By Kilo raised Series C funding. How do companies like these get venture funding?
I am sure the bet here is not that BBK will become a billion dollar company. Or will it?
Cloud kitchen company Biryani By Kilo [BBK] has raised $9 million or Rs 72 crore in its Series C round led by Alpha Wave Ventures.

After years of deep RnD and eating biryani everyday by kilos, they have created a solid moat in the biryani recipe /s
If Biryani can't show growth potential then what else can?! Go BBK!

Indian investors h. Inko har deal new billion dollar outcome nhi chaiye hota. That’s a us ka requirement. They are fine with lower returns too.
These are not low quality investors. AlphaWave is serious. The BBK founder is ex Private Equity investor himself. LSE grad.
I think this speaks a lot about the general Indian consumer psychology. We as a population are still light years away from understanding quality in food and will still value quantity. Unsurprising to see the founders, given their past backgrounds, taking a bet in this. Really smart idea.
BBK is not quality? Sorry I have never tried them
But yes I do agree. Fine dine in India is not doing too well while massy food is the only one that does well
To be fair, I haven't tried it either and in fact I am definitely ordering this on weekend. Also even if it's decent in quality, look at their name and strategy, their positioning by having ' by Kilo' tag shows what they are trying to promote.
