Bumping up ctc for post mba, need opinion

Hi all, Looking for some suggestions on the group on my current situation

I currently make 85k pm in hand (wfh) which makes my inhand fix to around 12

I have been offered a new role in mumbai for 18 lpa fixed. My goal is to prep for cat

Should I consider this switch?

Post mba does your pre mba exp and ctc matter in placements?

You need to consider this, assuming you get placed in top IIM schools.

  1. You will not be earning anything in these 2 years. So it's 18*2 = 36 lakhs
  2. Cost of doing MBA. Average cost 25L for 2Y + 5L expenses

So total 66 L

Once you complete MBA, average placement in IIM other than A,B,C is 18L and A,B,C is 25L

So your expenses after graduating will be higher due to education loan. You can make a decision based on the above matters.

As per my opinion, it doesn't matter much for average Tech guy.

This is a good analysis but don't underestimate the network and connections you create during MBA

Average placement figure is scam in a lot of colleges. Fixed Component kitna milega woh batao...a few colleges claim 20-25 avg and no one ends up getting fixed Component above 20.

It makes sense to go for an MBA when your current salary is around 30-40k per month. Your opportunity cost increases for doing an MBA when you hit anything above 75k per month. Unless you want to completely change your domain from tech to finance/marketing/consulting I don't think an MBA is required.

The second point, yes : that's the reason 🥲

Then just go for it. Make sure to do it in a good b-school because the kinda peers and connections you get there are priceless in the long run.

CAT can go pretty random at times. So, jaroori nahin ki ABC mil jaayega. Agar software development pasand nahin toh pasand kr lo ya phir MBA kr lo, soft skill waale role mein chale jao jisme bolna jyada and bhasad jyada jhelni ho...ho skta h post mba 18 ya usse Kam mile

85k in hand is after deducting taxes and other things?

Your in hand will be arnd 1.2 if you opt for the new job in Mumbai.

Mumbai is expensive and will come with added responsibilities of managing chores, work and studies and enjoying Mumbai life.

If you want to study, why not study at home, will save you commute time in Mumbai.

Yes after taxes and other things. The only reason I was looking for a switch was to 1) get a big brand 2) to increase my ctc ~> both under the assumption that post mba placements would be benefitted by it. (But not sure if my assumption is correct)

After a certain level, MBA from good colleges matter in many companies.... think about that as well.

Should I give CAT?

I am a fresher working in tech startup with 25 lpa CTC, should I give CAT this year or wait for some time I am very much confused with some hesitations!
