Market should give a run up but likely to fall later this year. With the startup fundraise looking grim, there are companies preparing a PIP / fire list to let go off people. We see this already with the likes of Paytm in India, Lazada in Singapore, Delivery Hero in Germany. So to answer the question of the job market outlook. Chances are slim and rare if you are making over 50lpa. Around the 15 to 30lpa range there are still openings based on your domain.

but the job roles in general taper down for above 50Lpa, no? That's the idea I had, although I've no clue on how much folks in good start-ups that are still burning cash but almost profitable.

I have 2 yoe frontend focused fullstack, I got 1 call in 2023. In 2024 I received 3 calls already so it looks a bit better but I have been applying for a long time

Yeah, statistically better but folks with no experience are still gonna struggle until you rip off that fresher's tag in the market

Definitely going to get better in 2024. Fundamentals are improving and stock exchange valuations are soaring through the roof.

That's true because bear and bull markets are always cyclical and it makes sense as well, market can't go down always until it's a doomsday event or go up always either until we figure out the elixir for life :D

When do you think job market will recover

Around mid-2023, I thought jobs would get better by January 2024. But hearing about recent layoffs and seeing lots of competition makes me doubt when things will actually improve. I get that the job market goes up and down, but I just want it to be a bit normal, not necessarily back to the best it's ever been. What's weird to me is that stocks seem okay, but jobs aren't doing so well.

Insane number of low paying software jobs

Recently, I've been observing a concerning trend that I haven't observed before in my 5 years in this industry. A large no. of job openings are coming up at mid-sized companies and startups that require 5+ years of experience but pay 7-12 LPA. One of these companies even used to pay a decent more when I'd applied to it a few years before Does anyone have insights on the root causes behind this trend and how it will shape up the job market going forward? My hypotheses on root causes:- (1) Bad job market (2) Advent of AI

Heard from ppl in Amazon & Meta in the US, their internal projections for market recovery are June/July next year 🤞

Was speaking with 2 people I know who work at Amazon and Meta respectively. They both shared that spending on recruitment is going back up, because their orgs believe that by mid 2024, market will be back in full swing. Hoping this is true. Good times are back soon, if this ends up being. What do you guys feel? Anyone working at a large company and has similar internal projections that your org has made?

Had a chat with a legendary soonicorn founder yesterday evening and his take was that we are definitely not getting another bull run this decade. I obviously think more optimistically and hopefully things will look up soon. What do you all think about this tho?
