What advice will you give you to someone applying the first time? P.S. someone posted rejection question, I took the chance for approval lol

Has anyone applied to YC? If yes what was your experience, what all have you done before applying to YC? What was your market segment? Any other stories and gyaan related to applying and working with YC please!

Unsure how many of you are aware of the DRS - Decision Review System. You'll, if you are a Cricket viewer. Do you think Y Combinator needs to add a Decision Review System? Our last application(YC W23) got shortlisted for the interview and we were in the top 8% but got flunked in the final interview. This time it was a topsy-turvy experience, had a heap of hopes but couldn't even get the interview call. Anyone out here on similar lines ? If Yes, Your thoughts.

I have worked at a YC startup and a non-YC one (Nexus backed). From my experiences YC one had very good work culture and business growth was rapid too. But Nexus backed startup gave me significant raise (10LPA to 18LPA). But the sample size is extremely low to conclude anything. Also, whenever a YC backed company’s recruiter reaches me out, he or she is delighted to see a YC tag in my resume. But some recruiters give zero Fs. Few dont even know YC. So, 1. Does a YC tag generally mean the startup is of higher in quality (work culture, team dynamics, business outlook etc.)? 2. Is a YC tag a plus point on resume while switching?

Asking this on behalf of many founders like myself, wanted to collate across multiple inputs: what is it that VCs really want to hear/see from a startup? Would love to get inputs from VCs and other founders alike - basis your experience on what has worked what hasn't worked. The usual suspects: obviously the founder credentials, TAM, insights, metrics. But, what else? Look forward to informed answers.

Which YC funded Indian startups have been successful over the years? Successful = Profitable / Growing Revenue YoY with necessary burn / Dominant Market share. The Indian startups accepted list seems to have increased to a handful every year, but don't see any of them creating the impact that one expects from businesses selected by a seed platform that prides itself on extreme scrutiny for all applicants. Where do you think is the gap? American understanding of Indian business models / consumers / market or somewhere else?
