ESOPs or SOAPs??

Were you able to liquidate any of the ESOPs granted, what are your opinions on ESOP policies. Does it only favour the old employees/CXOs?

Hello guys, I would want to know what is the benefit of getting ESOPs in an early stage startup? The startup has a great team and working on a promising product. I have been offered a package with somewhat lower fixed component and somewhat higher ESOPs. Need insightful pointers here. TIA :)

Where did you work and how much money did you make? Asking as it looks like a lot of promise of ESOPs and wealth creation has failed employees in this bloodbath slow growth, layoffs, and job changes.

Guys, what are your successful ESOP stories? How much did you made? And what did you do with that money?

I am getting offered a 10L Esops for example, does that simply mean i need to pay some amount to get shares worth 10L of company at Actual Market Price? I have got only RSUs until now so now idea how world of esops work and are they actual money? Like If i’m at 40 CTC fixed and getting offer 48 fixed + 8L esops, am i getting 20% increment or 40% increment?

I have read somewhere that 90% of the People who receive ESOP are never able to benefit from it? (Company not doing well hence never able to sell it). Etc

I’ve been out of this game for a while so pardon my ignorance. What are you folks asking for as stock compensation these days? My understanding is that if you’re being paid ₹100 as base pay, a ₹10-20 variable and ₹100 as ESOPs that vest over 4-5 years in equal parts is fair game. And you should continue to get at least ₹100 fresh grants each year if you’re a high performer. How did it go for your negotiation? And how did you ensure you actually get value for ESOPS? Most startup ESOPs are 100% bullshit and you may not get a rupee even after a decade of working.

Please share how your company esop policy is. Is it really valuable for employees or just used to create hype and retail talent. How many years can you exercise them after resignation? How did the taxation go if someone has been lucky enough to convert it to cash? Should esops be a factor while leaving current company or joining a new company?

I'm currently a front end dev in an early stage startup, been more than 1.5 years here, joined as a UI dev took up frontend. I've just got ESOPs and wanted to know what do people think. Not thinking of switching right now cuz recession, but does ESOP turn to money often. It'll get vested until 2027 btw.
