Demotivated to learn any new skill after using GPT 4

I've been using GPT to do any task I pick up- write code, generating UI palettes, create and check legal docs, writing product copies etc.

GPT-4 has aced all tests. Recently diagnoed a dog with an ailment better than vets.

As a result, The only skill I feel like getting better at now is asking GPT questions. I don't see the point in learning anything new if it's all becoming redundant with generative AI.

Anyone else who's in the same boat here?

GPT is good at doing repetitive things but not good at specific tasks especially if it's complex. It's just in your mind that AI will make everything redundant. Nothing can replace a inter-disciplinary person with strong fundamentals. So keep learning.

Yeah but it sounds simple enough. Generic parts of a specific code or known errors or something that isn't complex still falls under the same category.

You can still solve complex problems with GPT(sounds contrary to my comment) but it requires you to know what you're doing since you'd be gluing together the different pieces.

It's similar to something I saw on Twitter the other day. GPT is great at solving leetcode questions that existed on or before it's training dataset cut off date but it usually sucks at any new question that was added after that date. It isn't great at math either afaik. Sure it can and will get better but a person with skill and expertise will always be of value. This is not to mention that hallucination. There's no way to tell if it's hallucinating if you don't know the topic of question and answer.

The true essence of AI is not to replace humans but to augment and enhance them. We're still in the early-stage with all this imo. Use it to your advantage and think of it as a smart friend that you can ask doubts to and get help from. Like any technology or scientific progress, if it takes away some jobs it will also introduce new jobs

GPT 4 kind of knows everything, recently wrote a prd for me on gamification almost better than what i can write.

Gave me guidance on integration with xyz tool.

My jira board is now comprehensive with lots of info, thanks to gpt.

Have stopped using google :/

If you’re senior dev and used gpt in any of your projects, you must’ve been frustrated already. In simple terms, it is garbage in and garbage out. But of course, let’s wait for gpt10 to come.
