Ratio of designers to devs is roughly 1:10- 1:15 at most companies and it’s much more competitive to get. Also there’s a hard cap on number of designers - because most design output is dependent on dev bandwidth to implement.

Unless you have a natural inclination and aptitude I would not recommend especially in this market (especially if you don’t have a design educational background)

designing something asked by junior product or engineering is UI designer, they use to crib a lot, me including my team learnt the basic to design and move ahead. This is the basic and simple part, anyone can learn the tool and design stuff. PPL confuse UX with UI, UI is simple any dev can do UX is something altogether, even after having an exp of 8+ years I sometime feel I can replace them but at the end of the day I just realise we all have our jobs cut out.

PPL mixing this are really dumb or they are short shited, there are reasons why big companies like Meta, Google, Nefflix have design principles
