Need honest opinion/constrictive criticism about this app

Working on an app which is at a very early stage. Layman gist of the idea: A step counter app which rewards users in a specific, useful and sensible way in return for the steps tracked and maybe couple other physical activities that the user undertakes. Current market: I know there are couple apps already in India which do the same and few more available globally which do the same but obviously they are not too mainstream and not actually that beneficial to users to form a habit forming culture. Basically its just like those stupid cred coins concept where you earn but no way to spend! My outlook: I obviously have broad horizon and want to create a useful and meaningful money making ecosystem through some strategies/ideas that I have and make it an actual money making app/company with a sensible rationale and economics behind it and not just some zabardasti ka startup just for the sake of "having khud ka startup." My aim: To achieve great level of gamification in healthcare and create an ecosystem/network through this with lot of things to come in future. @ElonMast thanks a lot for your feedback. Definitely I will work on what you said but the above post was created that way deliberately to not discuss in detail a lot about those potential USP's how this app makes it different from the existing ones. I was hoping, whoever finds the above idea even one bit interesting/hopeful would connect with me in any way to brainstorm/discuss further and then we can discuss more about it considering that the person would be motivated to do so! Maybe my approach is wrong but yeah .. I didnt want to make it a lengthy post.. But just so you asked - USPs: Multiple (meaningful) ways for the user to EARN and BURN their coins/rewards. Basically its like CRED at its most sensible and practical form for people involved in daily fitness activities. Transparency in earning and burning rewards. Gamification through leaderboards (localized leaderboards, national leaderboards ), Challenges on dedicated geofenced areas like hikes/trails/treks. Add an option to find co-walker/hiker/trekker and earn multiplied rewards. Collab with different parties from healthcare like insurance companies, healthcare supplement brands to give incentive when the walk on selected paths within a dedicated area.. Opens up avenues for localized/targeted marketing.. List goes on... Hope it helps.

No! Why you think strava or healthify isn’t doing this? For them they have users, data and pedometer sorted.

@TepidFanny11 Thanks a lot! Firstly we can agree that since there are multiple apps already available, people (including us) are still not inclined/motivated to use it even though it demands hardly anything from us. So thats one reason/gap in the market. Plus, people dont really trust these existing apps and are mostly like a gimmick/scam or kind of undersell on their promises. Mostly these apps have a confusing or a cheap user experience which feels like some faltu app so that habit forming attitude/ecosystem is not formed. They just focus on steps and rewarding some coins for it and nothing beyond that. I plan to include social aspects/CSR aspects just to name a few.

Are you thinking of mapping steps walked to donation to CSR? Lack of funds and lack of transparency kills this. There is no businesses.

- user deposits rs100 per day - user is expected to walk 10k steps per day - user gets back the rs100 if they complete it, or the percentage of the money deposited is equivalent to the percentage towards the goal they achieved per day. - the users' step targets will be set before they choose to buy into the challenge of the day. - they can seek to change the target but that will also change the potential maximum payout. - people who fail their goals will subsidized those who break it. - people regularly breaking their goals will be diminishing returns, implying that they dont need the app anymore

Apple does this quite successfully with the rings. Problem with apps is that of passive consumption. How many people who have wearables for daily fitness actively track their progress everyday? Not a large percentage. Then you get into the issue with the power users. Power users have different devices based on their goals (garmins, ultrahuman ring etc). Gamifying for them will have low adoption since they are have already found systems that work for them. So you are left with a high churn userbase that's looking to do the bare minimum. That's still not bad. Your January numbers will look good but the drop off will be massive. Duolingo is the classic example of success though. But that's a very tough strategy to try, especially since they are their own niche where alternatives are expensive while you might have quite a few cos in this space, and without a device, are just an app. Healthify me has tried to do something here but kinda show how tough this space is.

I feel the role of gamification and habit building to solve for long term health needs a lot of innovation, current solutions don't give real outcomes. Some examples I've seen: CGM based reinforcement for diabetics Virtual Rewards on Apple Health Sweatcoin for real rewards upon steps Monetization and cost of distribution will be a real challenge unless there is a strong innovating idea. Would love to learn more if there is any innovation in this space.
