Layoffs at Economic Times
Leadership meeting at ET says they will cut 50% team in march. Where can talented journos go?
Could this be related on AI related work tools? A lot of research, editing, proofreading can be done more efficiently by these tools now a days. Doubt if any of the writing or editorial staff will be impacted
No, that is still far away to be implemented at these big firms
I don't know, media companies especially in print are struggling to grow their ad revenues, cutting costs through AI tools seems like a feasible option to maintain their P&L in positive. Also Time Group, their parent company is pretty big enough in this space But my speculations aside, would love it if any journalist here can confirm this

Damn, 50% layoff at such a reputed brand is huge.
Definitely something's cooking.
There's more to what meets the eye.

This is true, I was affected last month. I was called into a zoom meeting and then asked to put in my papers and was also subsequently informed that it was my last day.
Could be because of the times group split. Ek bhai chindi nikla
