Do you see any negative outcome from ChatGPT?
It shows a lot of possibilities for sure. But do you see its capabilities causing negative outcomes?
How are the results accurate? How do we know it’s not manipulating you? Gives me strong Orwellian vibes.
Few points to note 1/ model is not yet connected to internet 2/ it constantly learns from the user input
Case in point Microsoft launched a chatgpt type model directly on internet. Users on twitter and Reddit made sure that it tuned in to a Nazi and they had to shut it down within 24 hours.
Technology is almost unreal. But the one who ends up controlling it would prolly end up controlling the world. It’s almost feels like the era of AGI is here.
While as someone from tech I appreciate the progress we’ve made, but whenever a tech is this magical, it ends up killing huge number of jobs.
Last point, you know every FAANG company is capable of building such model, and they’ve more training data than openai (and more money too), we’ll see such models appearing every month and it just gets far far better from here.
Scary times 🥲
Negative outcomes that I can see:
-
loss of low level jobs in creative fields such as illustration and copy writing
-
humans over time using their brains less and less. Just as we don’t think about storing information any more since google or basic notes apps
-
AI by its construct is a winner takes all market for most pockets. There will be singular companies that will succeed in each niche. It’s impossible for an upstart without 10 M dollars to train a model that gives acceptable outputs
ChatGPT is a supplemental tool, just like many others. Sure there's hype rn but it'll fade away.
Na na Babu. U have not used it in appropriate way it seems then
It will burst huge IT salaries in next 5 years
