Recruiters and Current salary
Recruiters contact you and ask you for your current/expected salary, what is the appropriate strategy to use here? For current: - Be honest - Inflate For expected - Be honest - Inflate
Current: Ask their pay range for the role first. Say you can discuss the current pay after interviews.
Expected: Make a call based on online data and your current pay. Don't say insane numbers, but say a number more than the middle of the band.

Adding to this, you generally share a range.
Remember they will hear the lower range, and you'll expect the higher number.
Rule of thumb- lower range should be atleast 10% more than your ACTUAL expected salary
Don’t share salary ask them you need industry standard for your experience. But they still try to play around then ask them about their employee benefits. It worked like a charm in ‘20 for me:)
So the secret here is to take control of the conversation from the start.
Behave like you were expecting them to ask these questions and you know how to answer them.
First thing you need to know is:
Never tell your current salary in the first call. You lose the leverage to ask for a higher salary.
If they ask for your current salary, tell them it's not important. What's your budget for the role?
Then when they ask for your expected salary:
The key here is to make this bracket as small as possible. Do some research online, ask your peers/seniors what's the market average these days and then give a number based on your experience.
The smaller and specific the bracket, they are gonna know you know your worth.
