I think Sequoia and A16Z had this in mind:
- Elon is super driven to build an Open AI competitor
- Elon is excellent at navigating new frontiers: spacetech & EVs (the only person to do it twice like that)

- The market is proven to exist
- Founder has network
- Founder has earlier successes
- Founder has previous connections with OpenAI
Probably a no-brainer just because of these points. The valuation is bad though 😅 too much competition from other products
