Explore breadth vs depth in career

Should one try doing different things early in the career for example try different roles in software engineering, data science, product to see which role one likes the most

Or

Should one try doing the same thing for some years early in the career to allow the compounding to kick in and you have something with depth to show for when you have 3-4 years of experience. y

In my opinion, there is never gonna be a general answer. Am myself in similar rut with higher YoE, so i would suggest breadth in early days. But at some point you need to be able to dive in. Best judge for that would be yourself based on work that you get to do. You would need to prioritize challenge/culture/pay/learning/respect/impact etc.
