Do these people get same preference as IIT/IIM people in india
I have a question which was popping since long in my mind , there are many people who go for higher studies abroad in b-schools like LBS INSEAD HEC PARIS, or ivy league at USA or some for MS CS in good colleges , After working for few years with careful financial planning and saving many of them come back to India as they have old age parents, friends and family here . Do these b-schools people get same preference as someone from IIM BLACKIS/FMS/ISB OR as someone from IITs/Nits for higher positions based on performance or in other general things, if they are continuing job here rather going for some business/startups???

definitely yes. They would be in external facing side of the business. The one thing i have noticed is, any "foreign" return is seen very positively.
an Indian who is toiling much harder, will not get the same money as a returnee for the same role and responsibility.
There is a force multiplier effect if the hiring person is also a " foreign" return. Indian asking for WLB will be looked down. But a returnee says the same thing, these people will have an orgasm.
In the last 5-7 years or so - with easy money flowing across startups, there was an active reach out to attract young pedigreed folks for various business/product roles, especially in the home grown startups. A large chunk were absorbed across new verticals and were mandated to build those from scratch. This allowed them to operate at a different vantage point and hence gain a different understanding of the business. This led to accelerated learning for these folks which in turn allowed them to move in leadership roles across multiple organisations in quick succession.
This compounding effect led to much steeper growth for these folks both across work as well as compensation.
However, this has not been the case across matured organisations who are more set in their approaches - Year of Exp, sector/industry exposure, etc etc. There, these guys have seen a much moderated growth both in terms of business exposure/compensation. Still, you can expect a steeper growth curve for them in this setting as well.
Having such people in your org opens up the funnel for other people from similar pedigree and background to join said org (because optics).
Hence, yes
If the startups/teams are in early stage, these folks are just milked for their degrees/alma mater names to be shown off on their pitch decks to investors.
There's a lot for these folks to gain too, with a ring side experience in building in 0-1.
But I really don't think people differentiate much if pegged against tier 1 grads in India, unless they have worked in MBB, FAANG abroad.
