The App Store and Play Store are a duopoly and we have allowed them way too much power. Atleast Android has options ...
Famous apps being delisted, can phonepe new appstore use this as a good opportunity
Few apps delisted are names such as Shaadi.com, OTT platform STAGE, social media app FRND. This might be temporary and these companies would get it live again, but is shd make us think the monopoly Google and apple has made in their respective ecosystem, Need of open and transparent third option , Google has a very high commission on transaction made via Play Store, Spotify had this issue earlier as well
What’s stopping us to create own App Store?
An App store is just another App unless it is "native" to the OS.
Mobile OS is owned by Apple and Google so native App stores are owned by Apple and Google. Any other app store can be delisted from the native OS app store or heck even declared as malware by the OS owners.
We need an alternative OS to succeed before we can have more app store options. Alternatively, we need an app store to completely get rid of their dependency on native app stores or OS.
Think of it in this way - Why PayTM or PhonePe failed in scaling their app stores? There must a reason why Indian publishers are still opting for app stores of giant.
