Bcoz they’re still quite young and maybe naive? Not everyone has gone through hardships to become mature early. Things and upbringing has changed a lot in general.

Many a times they say they’re sure & want to get into something serious but after few days they want to end things because they’re feeling unsure.
Why waste other persons time when you are not sure about anything?
They always want sympathy and they always think about themselves.
