Fin/Consulting vs Data Science
Hi, I would want to understand whether roles in finance and management consulting are better or data science field is better. Which field has more growth and is more immune to layoffs.
Datascience, the rate of data growth is exploding every year, next decade you will have robo and bio data added new frontier.
Bullish on long term
But considering the fact that everyone is getting into data science nowadays and more supply will lead to more jobs getting sacked. Whereas in a field like finance which is more niche and less people can get into as it either requires a MBA degree or CFA etc whose proportion will still be less than data science learners which is more easy to comprehend due to multiple online courses. So don’t you think finance career will be more rewarding?
Don't worry about macro. Focus on building your moat. Finance as field is getting automated at a very fast rate too,
Check Navi Mutual fund cost vs other fund house. Zerodha and jio will be leveraging datascience to keep finance cost low. These days CA is also relying on tools to find Refunds etc.
I see that if you can code and adapt then you can survive the next 1-2 decades. Rest of repeatative things now have the potential to get automated.
