FOMO with the latest technologies.
I am an average software developer in India from Tier 2 city with average income. Every day I watch a new piece of interesting tech being launched with half of my salary price tag. Today I was watching these Brilliant AI glasses and wanted to see if I can even afford that or not. I don't know what kind of rant I am writing but I am really frustrated of watching things being launched that I cannot purchase. Hell I cannot even purchase a Chat GPT subscription although I earn around 60-70k (I come from a really poor family so 60-70% of my income goes to loans etc)
You first need to set yourself some ground rules in personal finance to avoid FOMO, yes, you read it right!
I usually don't spend on unnecessary things but still sometimes it feels very frustrating. I never bought an iPhone but seeing people earning 20k and getting an iPhone really demotivates me mainly because they are not spending their earnings on loans etc.
Again I really don't know why I am having these kinds of feeling
@constA Did you ever see their problems after purchasing iPhones?
I saw, and I just feel that I am not stupid enough to invite such problems in my life! You'll witness that one day soon!
Pride >>> FOMO

Don't compare yourself to others.
-
Remember point 1
It's really hard when society starts comparing you with others. Recently one of my relatives got a gift for their home from their office. They told my parents about it. Now my parents didn't compare me with the relatives but they were comparing themselves with me.
All the best to you mate, spend your weekends in learning and growing. Start freelance work, make connections. Establish multiple sources of incomes and you're golden.
60k-70k ain't gonna make the cut even if it's all in your pockets, it's the hard reality, I have been there.
Bro everything will be alright.
You are doing good in life. Just a suggestion have a sip in place. Even if it is small just start with it. Think of it like an additional loan you have.
I was in same situation as you are. Started with 30k. Live in Bangalore saved nothing. Started doing 3k sip. Switched jobs. Worked on skills kept on saving. Still doesn't own an iPhone. No home. But it been 7 years now have home, car, all loans paid go on family vacation abroad once every year.
It took time and will do kuch better then any one of us. Just clear your head and think in long term. You won't even remember anything after few years. Keep shining bro.
