Future seems bleak

Hi all

I am currently working as a business analyst for about 6 months now. Earlier was in a back end development team but was underperforming as could not really figure out what to do. I don’t like coding. The current role suits me but I don’t know if it has a good future.

Current role - Analyse old product (old code) (understand the complete functionality) Suggest enhancements if asked for by the client. Give demos to on-site people/developers Test the modernised version of the product (started very recently. Called “functional testing”)

Can I switch to a different company with a good jump in pay in future? I feel like the work I do is not really considered worthy and hence there is no growth in this field.

Please suggest how to move forward. Would like to work for another year or two and then go for an MBA abroad.

Why do you think it's not worthy? It's literally building up to a PM/generalist role

I don’t know man. I feel like I am not being recognised enough and also am new to this field so looking for some guidance as well on how to move forward.

Recognition doesn't mean shit buddy, as long as work is meaningful and you get paid properly just do the work, learn processes and network as much as possible. You're in the trenches, no one gets recognised in the trenches because it doesn't mean much either.

You need to be able to use this experience to come up with better procedure, SOP and cost saving methods for this company or the next. Be a master of what you do, doesn't matter how big or small it might seem.

Yes you can. You need to think it's possible. Then you have to find what you genuinely like doing. Then you have to put in effort to get that job
